Hi everyone! Thanks so much for watching this video :trophy-yellow-smiling: As you can imagine, this was a lot of work to put together, but I know there are some issues with the video / sound along the way that I tried to fix to the best of my abilities. INFO: Sorry about the last 30 minutes being all from one camera angle (and microphone), the other angle glitched and had to be removed in post edit. Either way, hope you enjoyed this, and remember to head to the description for more resources, information and so on :)

There are very few videos two hours long for which I am willing to sit and stay. This is one of the rare ones. I don’t know who PTS is, but I’m convinced. Every word tells. His examples are consistently apt. His language is beautiful, fresh, and lucid. His scholarship is solid. His suggestions are practical and actionable. He delivers everything he discusses with disarming modesty. The scope of this video is genuinely helpful, even for a player like me who is many many decades into piano study. I intend to refer this to all my musical contacts.

wow, what a great and informative video, thanks for that! .. as this is a very long video, i just took a break in the middle, looking forward to the second part... ;) - octave glissando: exactly that, you need to drag both the thumb nail and the pinkie, otherwise (like pointing the thumb forward) it will just hurt and be more or less impossible. but a well regulated piano action should not be neglected! i was able to play the famous waldstein passage almost effortless on my digital piano, but on my acoustic grand it was almost impossible... i asked my piano mechanic if he could do something, and yes he could! it was just a bit of regulation, tighening and oiling here and there etc, nothing really expensive. difference like night and day! :) - palm glissando: a technique quite popular with hammond organs. of course, their keys are lighter weighted and have rounder edges (even at the front -> "waterfall keys"), which makes it easy for any sort of glissando, but typically you would not go completely sideways in a palm glissando but rather turn the hand to have the fingers in direction of the movement (but flying them above the keys). this makes it much more comfortable.

True, it's something of a forgotten technique and I'm surprised that it's not more in everyone's arsenal.. but it does require one to play at least a 10th, or close to it!
