Gaming peaked with PS2. You pick up any genre, whether it's racing, platformers, or anything in between, you'll find not just one but a number of great games. Look at games like Underground 2 or Most Wanted, it's very apparent that those games will never be topped ever again, for whatever reason. GTA V gives you realism and graphics, but that feeling of freedom or creativity from Vice City is missing. Metal Gear Solid V wasn't quite like MGS 3 or even MGS 2. Heck, you could pick up two completely different types of Resident Evil games (Code: Veronica/RE4) and still have a better time than you would playing horror games from PS3 or PS4. There was something there for everyone, and excellent games in every genre. Don't forget Def Jam, Here comes the pain, Mortal Kombat Deception and Tekken 5. Lastly, there was a clear emphasis on narrative and storylines with older games. Developers didn't bother with massive multiplayers or mundane open-worlds, DLCs or pre-order bonuses; and it was a blessing in disguise.

metallicarabbit it is retro because: It was released in 2000 (thats 18 years ago,damn time flies) The console & games for the ps2 has been discontinued Its TWO console generations old (its a 6th gen system and we're in the 8th gen)

Tabish Arif honestly dude i agree completely. Idk why but after the 6th generation of consoles (Dreamcast,Ps2, Gamecube,OG Xbox) i just lost interest in the new games after that since they dont really have that same "feel & creativity" like they used to especially with the new games mostly consisting of always-online,DLC pre order and passes, as well as huge world maps that feel like mostly a barren wasteland and also the amount of call of duty-style fps games that are just filling up the market of games its sad.

If a person only wanted to own one console, I'd recommend the PS2 in a heartbeat. Easily the largest variety of games...and so many are fairly cheap nowadays. Action, racing, puzzle, fighting, rpg...ps2 had it all

I'll try my luck, I search for a games name but I can't remember it. All I remember is that you start off in a Lab as a girl with a jacket and a skirt, color palette was mainly green. Somehow a sword is being generated and you as the girl and the sword are connected, the sword has an eye on the edge, no, not Soul Calibur, after escaping and killing a mini boss you end up in a plane etc etc, I suppose the game comes from Korea/China/Japan, not sure tho, would love if someone could help me out on that
