Blohm makes the nicest most powerful surface grinders I have ever seen! Thanks for taking us along for the tour boss!

I noticed Blohm equips most of the machines on their manufacturing floor with the Sinumerik control, but they also use Siemens in their own production. It is nice to see a machine builder "practicing what they preach". Awesome video!

Under a micron (.00004), how the heck do they do that day after day...there is a very small part of the population that has any appreciation as to how tight a tolerance this is.

Well, did you hear the mention of sand paper...so it's locally ground using a moving table and laser referenced somehow. I used to hand precision lap hard stainless parts on a 5 inch diameter platen - I used to fine grind / polish to about 0.1 micron fairly easily but the straightness / alignment over two rails for 2 meters length is significantly, significantly harder without any doubt. No doubt someone who takes their job very seriously.

There are some very talented people out there in industry and most folks have no idea what it takes to bring some of these products to market....I'm elated when I hit a dimension that is +/- .0001..........have a hard time relating to something like 0.1 micron, just the heat from holding onto it would change it....😄@@TAH1712

When Titan was talking about them getting stuck on the train, the guide in the background was just smiling because it completely fulfilled the german preconception of the Deutsche Bahn with ways beeing late. I'm sorry xD

Actually, I'm curious. Can you use this machine to grind down a 0.4mm sheet of steel/aluminum to 0.39mm thick? Would be interesting to see the capability and precision of this machine

5 micron tolerance on the base plate in the machine alone, not to mention more precision things, which was mentioned as sub-micron. 0.005mm, which would be 0.4 to 0.3995
