On my trip to the Black Sea region last year, I set out to visit the 100-year-old abandoned house I had discovered. Subsequently, I managed to locate the rightful owner and spent a day with them. I recorded the words they spoke on video and returned to be a guest at the house once again.
This old house was originally constructed in a remote area known as a "mezra," far from the village, and it was designed to accommodate farmers and livestock keepers. During its construction, people questioned, "Why build a house so far away?" However, the person who built the house gave an intriguing response: "One day, someone may need this place, and there's no harm in having a house here."
During the Russian occupation of the Black Sea region, this house became a refuge for the villagers, and today, it served as a sanctuary for me. The atmosphere in this place was truly remarkable. I am very happy to have heard this story and spent that night in this house. I slept through heavy rain, accompanied by incredible thunder, and it felt like the house was almost shaking.
By morning, many riverbeds had expanded, and there had been a landslide. This marked the end of a journey filled with memories spent in this house, and the historical narrative of this place deeply moved me.
