No. Alfred Hitchcock. 'All actors are cattle'. It is a controversial quote that is usually attributed to him.

He said nothing of the kind. He was too much of a professional to have done that. Find me a citation where it is suggested that he did. Shah does mean directors like Ray (Bimal Roy, Mani Kaul, Shyam Benegal, etc.) but he's not specifically referring to Ray. Many actors have taken offence to Hitchcock's remark, which, btw, IS megalomaniacal, I must agree.

Ayan I am not arguing. I don't know abt Hitchcock's statement. He may had said something like this. But in an interview once Ray said that I don't usually work with professional actors. He use persons from normal course of life doing identical things same as the character is doing in the screenplay. But it is not verbatim. I may had interpreted wrongly.

I know you are sitting in front of one great actor interviewer but next trime don't respond in this way.His every sentence is kind of interfered by your affirmations and thats very irritating You have done a great job, great set of questions you asked him. but unnecessary sounds man.This isn't an assistant teacher's session in private and i guess you know that, I appreciate your knowledge Shaunak and also it was a different interview where you put up serious questions.. We all want to listen to the great actor's words properly!!
