Been waiting on the Big Bang twin turbo 454 for so long. The LS Fan Boys don't have a clue what the old school muscle will do as they think the LS has "reinvented" the wheel somehow lol. Most people don't know that there was a big bang twin turbo 454 test done back in 2014 where the junkyard bottom end 454 made 1,200hp+ and over 1,300tq+ and didn't scatter. That test needs to be ran again to show that the "dinosaur technology" still reigns supreme 😎. Cubes + boost = King. I'll bet money it'll surpass the 1,600hp that the LS ended up making on its revised Big Bang torture test.

Hi Richard. This is a basic question but I’m having a hard time finding the answer. Where do you plum the oil pressure line to the turbos from. Some posts say use the oil pressure sensor supply some guys install an adapter between the block and the oil filter. The return is pretty easy just install a fitting in the oil pan. Thanks in advance

any pressure source will work-there is one at the back of the block and 1 near oil filter

WHat are the quickest spooling turbo size / type I can run if I try to build a similar combo for a Junkyard 454, but with just forged pistons , gapped hi-tension rings, and cut-ring head gaskets for longevity. I dont want mass horsepower, just 1000 - but a quick spooling no lag boosted engine that will respond like an 800ci hot hi comp big cam NA engine..

If the engine ran only one turbo to start, then phased in the second one, would the power not rocket up to 780 at 4200 RPM, With the torque leaping up to around the 1000 mark at that RPM, then stay on up there and increase hp until redline? With one turbo being in a far higher utilization zone until you could apply the scientific joke trope [then a miracle occurs] as on one comic of a demonstration of a math proof so the second turbo phased in without falling into a sort of hole, the power could be zoomed up to max far more quickly, as having twins usually gives the exhaust an easier time to escape while not doing so much work, thus less boost than the same type of turbo as a single.

The weight difference between an iron block aluminum head LS (~500 lbs complete) is about 200 lbs less than an all iron 454 (~700 lbs)
@Lagrange11863 жыл бұрын
@Curt Curtis they definitely are bigger but if you were cool with fender dump exhaust I’d say it’s doable in most applications. I was shocked to see one fit in a 3rd gen F-body but folks pull it off 🤷🏼♂️
@chipcurrey6533 жыл бұрын
@Curt Curtis I would actually say the 454 isn't going to make a single HP more, since both engines can make 1000hp with twin gt45s, and will ultimately be limited by the turbos. And the ls will have a better block, 6 bolt mains, better oiling and cooling, better reluctor ignition, aluminum heads, plastic intake, etc. The BBC only seems attractive for going to displacements the LS can't and for going to hp levels with turbos that the LS reasonably can't in it's rev range, but none of that would apply to a street car.
