A dropper post is a must if you ask me. The number of times I would have to stop before a narly technical section whilst out on my bike was becoming annoying. I normally ride with my seat up so high on flat surfaces as that is what I'm used to. It can't be done in the woods so the dropper post was a godsend for myself.

An intermediate tyre would be best, something like a Schwalbe Magic Mary. One of the best tips is to reduce the PSI by around 5 - 8, works great on snow.

You can do, but the frame's geometry is designed around 27.5 wheels, so would be very beneficial.

Try using apps like Trail forks or get a days guiding to find some trails and ask about the local scene.
