Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 53, Number 325: Narrated 'Aisha: (mother of the believers) After the death of Allah 's Apostle Fatima the daughter of Allah's Apostle asked Abu Bakr As-Siddiq to give her, her share of inheritance from what Allah's Apostle had left of the Fai (i.e. booty gained without fighting) which Allah had given him. Abu Bakr said to her, "Allah's Apostle said, 'Our property will not be inherited, whatever we (i.e. prophets) leave is Sadaqa (to be used for charity)." Fatima, the daughter of Allah's Apostle got angry and stopped speaking to Abu Bakr, and continued assuming that attitude till she died. Fatima remained alive for six months after the death of Allah's Apostle. ONLY A TRUTHFUL CAN INVOKE CURSE OF ALLAH ON LIARS QURAN 3:61] If any one disputes in this matter with thee, now after (full) knowledge Hath come to thee, say: "Come! let us gather together,- our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves: Then let us earnestly pray, and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie!" This verse refers to the well-known event of mubahilah mentioned in every book of history, traditions, and tafsir written by Muslim scholars. The Holy Prophet was sending invitations to all to accept the true religion of Allah. Tribe after tribe, region after region, were coming into the fold of Islam. One such invitation was sent to the Christians of Najran, a town in Yemen, in the 9th year of Hijra. A deputation of 60 scholars came to discuss the matter with the Holy Prophet. Abdul Masih, the chief monk, asked him as to who was the father of Isa, thinking that the Holy Prophet would accept (God as the father of Isa. Verse 59 of this surah was revealed and presented to the Christians as a reply but they did not listen to reason. Then this verse was revealed to call them to a spiritual contest by invoking the curse of Allah on the liars mubahilah. The Christians agreed to this contest. Early next morning, the 24th of the month of Dhilhijjah, the Holy Prophet sent Salman to the selected site, outside the city area, to set up a shelter for those whom he would take with him, as his sons, women, and selves. A large number of companions assembled in the masjid, making themselves available for the selection. On the opposite side of the field, selected for the contest, the Christians, with their selected men, women and children appeared on the scene. At the appointed hour, a huge crowd, standing in wait, saw the Holy Prophet coming in, Imam Husayn in his arms, Imam Hasan holding his index finger, walking beside him, Bibi Fatimah Zahra, close to his heels and Imam Ali just behind her-as his sons, women, and selves. It should be noted that although there was provision for "women" and "selves" the Holy Prophet selected one "woman" and one "self"-Fatimah and Ali, because there was no woman and no man among his followers at that time who could be brought into the contest of invoking the curse of Allah on the liars. They alone were the truthful ones. (see commentary of al Tawbah: 119). The Holy Prophet raised his hands to the heaven and said: "O my Lord! These are my Ahle Baite". The Prophet (s) said, “Fatima is part of me. +Sabrina Shahab Sister, I appreciate the point you're making (that people who don't believe in ahadith shouldn't quote the ahadith they disagree with because they don't believe in them anyway, and that the miracles from the ahadith are not the reason most Muslims are Muslim) ... but be careful what you say. Saying you personally believe most ahadith are unauthentic is just silly, because: 1. opinions hold no weight unless the person saying it has studied the subject thoroughly. Unless you HAVE exhaustively studied ahadith, saying something like that is as silly as any of these Islamophobes with their unsubstantiated claims when they know nothing about Islam 2. saying something like that is almost saying that you believe most of the sahabah are liars, including the Mothers of the Believers and some of the Prophet Muhammad SAW's most loved and trusted companions and wives 3. Our religion has always been based on scholarship and reason. Saying things like this when you have neither studied or thought through your claim is basically refuting over a thousand years of Islamic scholarship and civilisation I could go on, but I trust you get the point. Yes the Quran mentions a handful of Miracles like the Splitting of the Moon, The Night Journey, The Angels coming down to fight along side Muhammad and the Muslims, the time Muhammad picked up sand in the battles of Badr and threw it towards the enemy and it became like a sand storm in the face of the enemy.... How ever in the Hadith the Companions of Muhammad who witnessed him perform 1000s of Miracles recorded them such as Muhammad making Trees uproot themselves and walk on their roots and then re root themselves back into the ground, or Muhammad healing broken bones and Sick people, Muhammad making little food into abundant of food, Muhammad making little water and little milk into abundant of Water and Milk, Making water gush forth from his fingers enough to clean a 1,000 people,...ect....ect these are some of the few Miracles recorded in the Quran and Hadith which Muhammad did BUT ofcourse they were all done by the permission of Allah!!! God has enforced his laws and controlling all the creatures in the universe. Those Laws are based on Permanent values. There will be no change what so ever. (Ref Quran) God has not given any authority to any of his Prophets to break his laws and perform miracles by growing watermelon on a banana tree. Yes we do need to stick with the Quran but Allah send His Prophets?? Do you ever think ?? Because, the Prophets explain the Qur'an and make it easier for is to understand the Quran through explanations and these are calked the Hadith..!! If someone Holly like a Prophet of Allah doesnt explain a Poweful Book like the Quran how else were we to understand it ??
