Congratulations! Your channel is brilliant and is absolutely one of my favorites. I am very glad to hear that your next book is near completion. I’m almost finished with Across the Wire and I really look forward to more. Also, thanks for saying such nice things about me and my dumb channel. I appreciate it!

You deserve 100,000+. Straight up. Keep doing what you do and you'll get there, too. You're a favorite, and please know you've got an audience that appreciates your sly, witty, brainy, and open analyses of books and reading. Brava. Bought a copy of your novel. Writers should get paid. Looks fantastic, too. Love the dedication to your Dad, and the layered aspects of your book's speculative aspects. The Power and The Glory by Graham Greene is top notch. He's hard to go wrong with but did distinguish his own work between Serious, usually focused on moral dilemmas, and Entertainments, usually espionage. They merge brilliantly in The Human Factor, which I think might've been his final work.

Thank you so much for your kind words. They stopped me in my tracks and humbled me. The internet is a strange place where the cynic expects very little, but thank you for your warmth and compassion. Thank you for the Greene recommendations. After I finish a few reading challenges, I’ll definitely do a Greene challenge and keep your recs in mind. Thank you for buying a copy of my book, I hope it finds you well. And I hope it is a bit of fiction that will at the very least entertain.

I love your channel. My son, MKV was the one who suggested I watch your Faulkner review. From then on I watch every new video you do. Your review of Lord of the Flies made me realize that I didn't really dislike the book at all. I just never completely understood all the different threads that ran through the story, so I thank you for that. Congrats on 1,000 subscribers. I look forward to your second book. I enjoyed Across the Wire!

Hello Janice! You're Michael's mom? So nice to electronically meet you. Thank you for your kind words and for reading Across the Wire. Are you a Faulkner fan? I know Micheal has 'feelings' about him. Hahaha. I need to be brave and face another of his novels as I hear As I Lay Dying is one of his easier to read novels. Lord of the Flies was great, but if I would have read it at high school age, as a lot of people do, I don't think I would have understood it all either. Thank you for being here.

@@ItsTooLatetoApologize Have you read any Tennessee Williams? I gather he is out of favor now, but I would really like to hear your ideas about any of his books. I have a soft spot for Faulkner, though I can't say I always understand his writing! Yes, Michael is my son. Maybe if he had started with As I Lay Dying he wouldn't be so conflicted about Faulkner.
@ItsTooLatetoApologize2 жыл бұрын
@@janicecuroso1042 I have Mosquito, Soldiers Pay, Absolom Absolom, and The Sound and the Fury waiting for me on my shelf. I was wondering if after As I Lay Dying it would be better to read some of Faulkner’s earlier works before going to the later works he’s best known for. I haven’t read any of Tennessee Williams novels yet. What do you recommend? I have read the Glass Menagerie, and A Streetcar Named Desire. I loved both. I’m working on a review of The Orchard Keeper by Cormac McCarthy. It has a definite Faulkner influence as the editor he worked with was Faulkner’s also.

Thank you. And Congratulations! Pretty new here, but really love what you're doing. I know there are so many novels to read, and I've already suggested at least one. But take a look at Louise Erdrich. Her characters are very well-drawn. Pretty much anything she wrote is worth the time, but, "The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse" is one I'll twist arms to get people to read. .

@It's Too Late to Apologize It's really funny, but I can't tell you how/why because spoilers. My parents read it to me when I was a kid (questionable parenting choices were made🤣) and I didn't understand all of it but still found it entertaining and cared about the characters. As an adult - when I DID get all the details - it just had more to love. Might not be everyone's taste as it's pretty irreverent and certainly has that dry British humour, but if that's your thing, it's great!

Well ... a couple of novels that end where they begin but are world-class are Finnegans Wake by James Joyce, and Dahlgren by Samuel R. Delany. Just saying. Yeah, it's possible, but those are circular novels, head games, and not intended for a mature audience.
