You have been very unlucky; I have only been playing the game for 2 months and I have 10 in total BUT some were from events and some were from emeralds. Apart from the first 2 which I think everyone gets pretty quickly (I think it took me a week) I have had another 3 from spheres within the 2 months; the others were from events (eg letter to winterclaus) or emeralds. If you are going to use emeralds make sure you check where you stand in the bad luck protection table because you can waste a lot of emeralds, The best way is to use emeralds immediately after you have used a fragment from an event!

It purely depends on luck; I got 2 drop from just 60 spheres about a week ago but I got zero from more than 500 spheres the week before!

You need to open 3,000 spheres of Titan artifacts in order to get a totem with a 50/50 probability. And then there is no guarantee that the totem will not be received by the person who will open the spheres at the same time. On December 31st, I received 2 totems of light after opening 200 spheres.

no, that's not true! I've spent 4500 spheres and still no totem! I collect those 4500 spheres for the whole two years!

Yeah you can spend a ton of money in the game, without getting what you want (, thats not cool. Or the "Astralseher" is a money burn maschine. Expensiv as hell, without getting what want

I'm convinced the game just doesn't drop totems from free spheres, only when spending emeralds

It depends on your VIP level. If you are VIP 5 or higher, then the game knows you are more likely to spend money for a totem, so it won't drop one from free spheres. If you are a low VIP player, you can get them from free spheres sometimes.

I think when you spend 50000 to 90000 emeralds for spheres you MAY be get a totem. but only collect spheres and open them in a rush earns nothing. my second account opened 1300 and nothing effect zero totems. I feel fooled

Using emeralds you can get totems, but the emeralds need are changing according to how many fragment you already have. Search by _"Bad Luck Protection"_
