Episode 1 of the 1000 yard clay pigeon challenge. Bob from BKTOutdoors tries his luck on his trusty hunting rifle aiming for the $1,000 money shot.
This episode was riddled with location and technology issues. The original shooting location didn't work due to weather and low clouds and we spent the next two hours trying to find a suitable alternative. We rushed to set up and the target camera was not centered on the targets, and froze before finishing. The TriggerCam was also not recording. I'll do better and be more prepared in the next episode.

Maybe one day. We are both young channels and would be an expensive venture right now with my channel not monetized and Roaming Shot newly monetized. Hopefully as we both continue to grow it will be worth the expense.

Bob was a real good sport, especially since the whole thing took like six hours instead of one. Learned some lessons for future episodes though.

I'll be in Florida next month with rifles, but only for a day and a half. Coming from Washington that's pretty close, just not close enough. One day I would love to get on an episode though.

Tough challenge

I think yours is tougher. One thing to hit a single target with nine adjustment shots. But you're hitting 10 with 10 different holds. Great challenge!

It would be nice to have a sheet of plywood behind the target for various reasons.

Thanks for the comment Dennis. What’s your argument for the plywood?

@TheProcrastinatingPrepper what is your argument for not having a sheet of plywood?
@TheProcrastinatingPrepper
@TheProcrastinatingPrepper 27 күн бұрын
Oh, that’s easy, I don’t want to. I didn’t have an argument to why not because I never had a thought to do so. I don’t see the value to using one, but was open to hearing why you thought it would add value.

After thinking more about the plywood, maybe I should. I think it would actually make the challenge harder because it will be very hard to see their impacts in a piece of plywood 1000 yards away.

@The Procrastinating Prepper... I havent had any issues with feeding or ejection with the .308... yet.... I wonder if theres a titanium shroud for the bolt? any after market that will clean up the action. I know savage is notorious for not having smooth "tikka like action" but... I know there are a few aftermarket parts for the RPR that will clean up the action.... wonder if savage has any? Blowing up the comments to get the video some traction.

I have the standard 110 precision in 308 and it's about the same. Black bolt instead of gold but I don't know if that makes a difference. I have heard of sleeves to reduce chatter.

So is shooting this challenge without a backstop the catch ? Shooting clays off a dirt berm is much easier at 1000
@TheProcrastinatingPrepper
@TheProcrastinatingPrepper 2 ай бұрын
It's not necessarily the catch. In my preview there is no berm because my property doesn't have one, I use the hillside behind it. In the episode with BKTOutdoors they were placed on a hillside so not a dirt berm, but a grassy backstop. If you're off target there is an opportunity to see splash. Yes a big pile of dirt would be very easy and I'd be broke after the first episode and just giving money away. I think a large percent of decent shooters can walk in a clay with a big dry dirt mound behind it.

@TheProcrastinatingPrepper I shoot at Thunder Valley Precision sometimes. They have clays on the 1000 berm. It makes it simple 2-3 shots usually. The berm would definitely break your piggy bank lol

@charlierose9860 it would break the piggy bank and be really quick videos lol. I definitely think for the $1,000 prize it's worth being a little extra challenging. Have to do something to stack the odds in my favor, but it's not like the circus where it cost $20 to throw 10 one inch rings at 7/8 inch bottles to win a $100 teddy bear from Amazon lol.
