Hello from Glasgow in Scotland Kathrwen I so much enjoyed watching you paint the blue poppies. I have painted the blue Himalayan poppies and they do have some dark blue colour amongst other shades of turquoise and lighter blue. Before I painted them I had painted the red poppy and never know blue poppies existed. I was so excited about the blue ones that I talked to a friend about it. I had a surprise gift of the blue poppies seeds and am to grow them in a container to be kept in the fridge to germinate before I can transfer the shoot to a pot! I learnt a lot from your video and I am a fan of you and Gary. Do keep your videos coming. I love your technique.

Lathered, Just know this: For ANYONE being critical to you… They either need to get a life…or get rid of their “stinkin thinkin”. I have a question for THOSE who find a need to criticize: IF BEAUTIFUL KATHWREN MAKES YOU SO UNHAPPY & CRITICAL….. Why are you “torturing” your unhappy self by continuing to watch her⁉️ You KNOW she is FABULOUS & KIND & BEAUTIFUL 🤩
@coleenlong821210 ай бұрын
My last text began with the dratted AUTOCORRECT changing my first word in my text… To wit… I typed in KATHWREN & autocorrect changed my greeting to “LATHERED”😡 MAKES NO SENSE‼️

Leilani,thank you for your comment. It is difficult to achieve the softness and transparency of our flower Technique with acrylics. With oils, it is not the smell of the oil paints that are toxic, it is the mediums. Try using Walnut oil to thin the oils as your medium,by M. Graham. It is natural and non toxic. Also, Gamsol by Gambling is a very good odorless thinner to clean brushes. You can also use just walnut oil or baby oil to clean oil paint brushes. .And of course ventilation in the studio is always best ,if possible. Best wishes,Kathwren

I currently use acrylic but watch all of your oil videos. I have also purchased some of your books and videos. I have adapted them to use acrylics but I do experience some frustration in the blending process. Maybe I will try oils one day. I just worry about the chemicals and ventilation. I greatly admire your talent and your husband’s. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. You truly are amazing! I like the live sessions because you are able to share more technique and it is good to watch you correct or adjust any problems. Love your lessons.

You may find that when switching from acrylics to oils you'll keep forgetting that the paint you get on your hands and rags stays wet too. So you'll find yourself transferring spots of paint all over yourself. At least that was my experience, lol

Thank you for sharing your skills. Question; you mention here, and on other videos throughout, that particular designs were "invented" by you both in the 60's. Are they patented? Since people tune in here to learn, can those fantasy poppies be used with our own "artistic" impressions? I'm confused from watching, for an example, classic Bob Ross videos, learning his own techniques, but still seeing lots of people still using them incorporated into their own interpretations. What are the rules when we paint like any particular teacher, or teachers that influence us, as far as "artistic freedom"? Thank you for any information.
@GaryJenkinsTelevision5 жыл бұрын
Hello Iris, yes ,my husband Gary did developers this style of Poppy painting. It was way back in the 1960s soon after he graduated from the formal 4 year art school,Ringling,in Sarasota Fl. He is a completely self taught artist and has had a full time professional art career since the 60s. So he became very well known for his floral painting style ,especially the Jenkins Poppies and Roses. We taught hundreds of week long seminars all over the USA since the 1970s and produced our weekly national PBS Television series from 1983-2015. And from 2006-2015 our TV series were also on several countries in Europe. We also certified many students in the US and in Europe to become teachers of our floral style. So our floral style became very well known all over.Now many other artist are painting this style of florals. As for people that want to paint our designs, anything that is instructed by either Gary or myself ,in our oil painting /TV books,our DVDs,our painting packets,our online lessons and KZbin,and live stream demos CAN be copied and/or taught. Only our fine art gallery paintings that we do not have instructions on,CAN NOT be copied. I hope this explains it well enough. Please visit our website to see all the instructional items we have available. Also please visit our Facebook page. www.jenkinsartstudio.com facebook.com/gary.jenkins.503 Besides our books ,etc., we also offer a full Floral/stillife painting ONLINE painting course ,Paint With Passion,and we also have some of our painting packets available ONLINE also ,with many more Ava very soon. To see those,go to. www.artapprentice.com Thanks for watching. Kathwren
