u don't need much lol, grab an iron block ls do valve springs maybe a cam add a 6/71 kit, shift kit the trans, lock diff add some 3.0s = done. lol don't even need the iron block ls, there's a car here called lsone (1984 vk commodore) had stock ls1, valve springs, 6/71 kit, that's it, made like 600hp run through a powerglide and locked borg warner diff out of a latter commodore, he won a rediculas amount of comps with that car lol wouldn't of been more than 20-25k build and it dominated. see cars like this are show ponies, posers if you will, more money than sense (no offence) lol. there's cars with 1800+ hp in the scene even though u don't need it, it's just wanking rights basically with little to no substance there lucky to get 60 secs outa their tyres which aint no good for getting points cars like lsone could go for 2-3mins easy hence how he dominated. 2-3 mins used to be the norm for the pro's it was expected the min was 2min to score well, our godfather gary myers dominated the scene for 28 years in his mustang gm176 (now sicko and owned by his son) i saw it at summernats 16 or 17 on the dyno it made 376bhp with a very basic 302 and 6/71 combo but dominated the competition for many many years against cars with double even triple the power, that car would do 2.30 - 3-30 min runs everytime and win just about 95% of the time. :D

There’s no way that car would be street legal in Australia, at least not in Victoria. I got pulled over for having my pod filter sticking out the hood, let alone a blower that size. between falcons and commodores id take a damn commo any day. ive had to swap a falcons straight6 at the start of the year cause it blew up just from drivin round. the fuckin things still got numerous transmission and coolant issues despite going in once a month to fuckin fix it. speedos out too and we have no idea why. not even the damn mechanic. meanwhile every commodore ive been around has been run into the ground and is still chuggin to this day with no issues that would have sidelined any other car.

@@manatheg My daily HSV VE R8 Clubby (VXR8) in UK - 3 oil pumps 'n' 2 engines - couldn't take a thrashing. Loved it but most useless POS I've ever owned. Shame as I'm deffo a Holden not Ford man but never again. Drove it proper hard & it don't like running at 140/150mph on the road. Overheats stupidly quick. 60 miles of fast 'B' roads in 3rd gear and it's died. Mates 2008 CLK Merc no probs at all. My old '74 HJ was better!
