Great cars, we have a 2007 and just put a new motor in at 238000 miles, we caught the water pump before it went bad, we’ve had very little trouble with ours.

I've put 100,000 miles on my PT Cruiser and it's never broken down or had a check engine light come on. I'm sure you'll have the same luck with your Jeep. My older brother has 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees. Both of them are about the same age (2001). They both have the inline 6 cylinder engines.

I would agree you could pull up right next to the JL Wrangler (2019) and not look prehistoric like a 4 runner from the same generation. Just make sure you keep an eye out for the water pump bearing on 3.7 and 4.7. if it gets too hot the heads are toast.

SuchANiceGirl22 The 3.7 and 4.7 have a standard belt driven external water pump. I have 2 4.7 vehicles and the pumps both wore out at 150k miles. No catastrophic failure like the 2.7 that dumps coolant into the oil.

I own a 2010 Jeep commander 5.7 liter. It’s a sports but loaded and I index up adding the chrome rails in the truck and rack area. Wheels as well. Beautiful SUV. I’m in the process of either selling it or trading it in. But it’s been a amazing car. My kids are older now so now I’m leaning towards a truck.

Yeah water pump does tend to go out with any late model Chrysler engines but it’s not the worst thing. In the 06’ Dakota 4.7 with the auxiliary transmission and power steering pump, heavy duty radiator and aftermarket air intake and larger engine bay they run pretty cool and the water pump last a good long time. 78,000 on mine with regular maintenance.

Considering how nice it looked I was willing to overlook my biases against Jeep and assumed it probably didn't need much maintenance over 100k miles. Then you said the engine was replaced within a minute of the video.

It’s strange that it did not come with the 5.7. Seems most of the issues with these are related to the cooling system of the 3.7L and 4.7L engine family. I loved the look of these, and they feel when driving.

I'm confused/worried now! I have an 06' 4x4 Commander that I bought from my brother in law who got it in 07' with 9kmiles. It has the 4.7 and, it's never needed a new engine, water pump or front struts! Plus, it gets better gas mileage than the Hemi I had in my 05' GC so, I'm wondering if you might've just got a lemon because, mine has been GREAT! I love it too BTW! I love the way they look.

For that price back then you could of got the ram Laramie. Good job keeping it in good shape. I look at it todays cars you dont have to buy a new one every 3 years. Do it every 10 years. That about how long it takes for Manufactures to remodel the vehicles. Everything else every few years is just add ons .

Andrew K Yeah, I think you’re given a 6 week period to get it inspected every 5 years. If not done, the warranty is voided.

YES! I was really annoyed by this with my 2008 Grand Cherokee. They don;t tell you that when you bought the vehicle. I was able to get 175K miles without too much maintained even though... so the 16,900 it cost me in 2008 wasn’t too bad. Sold it for 5K to the first person that saw it.

The truck has 79Kmiles and the owner is the first owner as well. He is asking 14K for the truck. I am wondering about the reliability. How would you evaluate the reliability of these trucks? Do they breakdown often and if they do what should I watch out for? Anything I should put emphasis on when I test drive the truck? As a fellow mopar fan, I have owned several models from dodge to Chrysler to jeep and I miss the lifetime powertrain warranty. Beatty Family Life Too bad the economy hurt the Jeep Commander and other gas guzzling vehicles. However, I believe the jeep commander would do great today if it was still in production, because suvs and trucks are on the rise with cars on the decline. Good Luck in finding a Jeep Commander. Just look online at different websites. Idk which state you live in, but there are always some great vehicles in other states. Plus, I believe Commanders are priced low with decent mileage on them.

I just bought one with the 4.7 for $5k. Car is super clean, and the maintenance history is awesome. Previous owner didn't miss a beat. I bought it with 135k miles, and it's absolutely perfect. Replaced my old 01 grand Cherokee that had over 200k miles, and dropped the overdrive gear

As of 2023, because of the gasoline high prices and the fact that those beauties are freaking gas guzzlers, those are basically being given away, in the North East / New England region you can find some 2009 that look as good as this one for just $3k as I've said: for free basically. Meanwhile a half beaten Toyota Corolla of the same age are being sold for more than double this price, I believe because of how economical they are.

Joes Golden Garage have the problem with my BMW 730ld 2006. Sunroof was fine when bought, 3 days after buying had 3 guys break into it, force open the sunroof and ran off. Then noticed that after car wash water was leaking inside, got the drains cleaned but was told that the “sunroof unit/rails” were damaged and needed replacing 3k job apparently as they need to remove the headliner. So yeah, ask a mechanic to check the rails.

The drains tend to get clogged at the bottom where they go into the floor then they back up the drains and come out the top. Its a quick fix there are videos posted on here that show you how

As far as using these for the third row they suck. Kids can barely fit in them, let alone adults. However, they do ride very smooth and have a unique feel to them in the driver seat. With a HEMI they are very comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Just couldn’t stomach the 11mpg in city driving which is mostly what I drive. The new ones are a little more efficient with 8 speed but still around 14mpg. Which doesn’t sound like a lot but it definitely feels like a lot. It’s livable.

OIS is miserable for moving vehicles - try tossing an iPhone camera on the window of a plane and it’ll send the OIS into overdrive. Same deal, mounting it on the car really does some weird things. The videos aren’t totally useless, but they’re not as good as you’d want either.

You will love changing the starter on that thing and will be glad that you didn’t own a 4x4, the starter took me 10 minutes literally 3 bolts on the 2x4 on the 4x4 it’s a 3 hours job 😂

Yeah that starter job was about 4 hours, it was such a tight fit. I could barely get the old one out. Putting the new one in took about three hours in the cold at about 30 degrees outside. The 4 x 4 is great in snow though. It's like it's not even there, great traction and pulling.
