you know, I've traveled around the world many times over and I've eaten in good restaurants and had street food. I have to say that I enjoyed the street food more than the restaurants--especially in Singapore and Japan and Korea. There were things I didn't like such as Kimchi in Korea, Nuoc Mam in Vietnam, and some of the weird Chinese foods in Singapore. In general, I don't care for most of the Japanese dishes, the Vietnamese dishes, the Thai dishes, nor do I like most of the curry or middle eastern dishes; but I love most of Chinese dishes. I also don't like many of the UK food or the French. Some are great, but most are not to my liking. But I do like most of the Hungarian, Polish, Estonian, and Romanian food. Weird the way that is. I haven't yet found an Indian dish that I like mostly because I never developed a taste for curry. But what I like most of all is good old American traditional food like BBQ of any kind, collard greens, roasted corn, grits, a truck stop breakfast, seafood on the bay and ocean, and good old traditional hot dogs, hamburgers on the grill and smoked BBQ ribs on the 4th of July with baked beans, coleslaw, fried okra, roasted corn, cornbread, potato salad, and cold beer--the best that there is because of the history, the family, and pure American traditional food. Now that is more of a southern US tradition. But other areas of the US celebrate with foods that are more traditional to their areas.
