The most difficult part for me was the fourth step ? The next step right after the inner flower. The pointy leaf looking thingies that are also nearer to the outer edge of the mandala. They kind of remind me of brackets. Hope I described them accurately ;-) Is there a secret to drawing these ? GREAT tutorial, and very encouraging !
@TrueNorthArts8 жыл бұрын
Oh those do take a little practice. For the longest time I could draw the one on the left and found mirroring it on the right was tricky. Practice. Practice. Practice. For more shape ideas check out the first chapter of my book. You can download it here: mandala.leadpages.co/freechapter/

Hi, how did you paint the mug and what materials did you use, or did you have it made elsewhere with your design?
@TrueNorthArts8 жыл бұрын
I drew the design using paint markers. Sharpies make a variety of metallic colored markers. For a permanent design look for oil based pens.
@artbytessiejo72188 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have heard of using the Sharpie Oil based markers, and have heard that they can be dishwasher safe, but I have found out nowhere if they are safe to drink from if you put the designs near the lip area. Do you know if they are safe or not? Thanks!
@TrueNorthArts8 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if it is safe. One idea is to draw a design that would leave that area open.

@TrueNorthArts8 жыл бұрын
Hi Clayton, You'll find the supplies that I use on my website. Here is a link to the videos that I've published. Each page has the show notes. 100mandalas.com/2015/09/30/how-to-draw-mandalas/ I too enjoy working intuitively to create abstract mandalas. The one's that I demonstrate in the videos are what many people are interested in learning after coloring mandalas. Often people associate the radial balance designs with mandalas. As you know there are many more possibilities to explore within the circle.
