Please check out my other racing videos! Several of them are as entertaining as this one, including one with over 40 lead changes and a wreck to end the race, plus it includes rear and foot cams. Thanks for watching and if you are looking for driving or race coaching hit me up at lightspeedmotorsports@outlook.com. I’ve introduced a video coaching format as well, details available and will be posted soon.
Hey subs! I think you're gonna like this one.
100MPH wreck/spin, 13 cars passed in the first lap, 25th to 1st in a deep field in 12 laps total.
Oh and some Star Wars Easter eggs if you're into that.
Props to RightThisMinute who grabbed this video and captured the essence well! www.rightthismi...
Description:
This is a 33 car field. Going into T1 on lap 1, the cars on either side of squeezed down before I could get out of the way causing a sizeable wreck. My car suffered a fair amount of cosmetic damage (still working on it) but surprisingly was drivable. After that, it was just a question of "how far back up through the field can I get?". With national champion level drivers at the front of the pack, I surprised even myself with the results.
Enjoy, and don't forget to subscribe!
Camera is a GoPro2.

Very minimal change to toe (not enough to affect handling), otherwise it was all cosmetic. The brunt of the impact was to the side pod and the nose. The scraping sound was an aluminum side strip ripped loose dragging on the ground when loaded up until I wore through it.

@konnerkramer329
@konnerkramer329 4 жыл бұрын
@@omar_b_here no one was a "villain". Ford did it to prove a point that an American built car with an all American team could compete with Ferrari. After Ferrari used Ford and made them like fools while trying to sell their company for more money to Fiat. This plus Ferrari making fun of and basically talking shit on the Ford motor company as well as Henry Ford himself is what motivated Ford to prove that point. Yes they spent more money because they built the car from the ground up in less than 6 months. while Ferrari took years to build their car. Which shared parts and designs from previous models. You can't really bring up money when Ferrari literally manipulated ford trying to make Fiat pay more for their company because they were bankrupt.
@jdogrulez5014
@jdogrulez5014 4 жыл бұрын
Omar Barcenas well no shit they spent more money than Ferrari, ford had no race team and no history of race cars to build upon. Ferrari had a long history of racing to build upon so, of course they didn’t need to spend as much to develop their race cars. Ford had a huge gap to make up and that required money if they wanted to seriously compete.

As one who grew up around and involved in SCCA racing, I am very impressed. Great driving. In my 65 years of motorsports involvement, I've only seen the like 1 time. It was with Super Modifieds. I was tire guy on the crew of a car, with my friend John Ryals driving. He had broken his left foot a couple of weeks before when on the crew of a Trans Am team and someone lowered the ramp of the while he was tying the racer down in the top of the transporter. He had a cast on it, but had made a commitment to drive the car before he broke his foot, so he did. 1st time in that car, and it had been a few years since he drove in the series. We showed up at Mesa Marin Speedway near Bakersfield. He was 2nd quick qualifier. Won the Trophy Dash and his heat. They inverted the fast 6 for the main in a field of 25 cars. At the start of the main, he was inside 3rd row based on qualifying. Turn 1, the 2 lead cars bumped and spun, so he went off into the infield to avoid them. With a USAC rule that anyone needing a push to restart goes to the back, he lined up for the restart at dead last. On the 1/2 mile track, by lap 3 of the 25 lap main, he was leading. Just before the checkered flag, the last car he lapped was Billy Vukovich III who was 2nd place. You put on a similar drive here. Great job. And I loved the comments in the video. I was saying to myself, "Better watch those tires", and moments later, there it was almost exact words on the screen.

Utter nonsense. Knowing "the line" means nothing if you can not go around a corner fast. The tactile seat of the pants and palm of the hands feel where the tires are an extension of your body is what matters. Knowing the racing line is comically simple for any competent driver. And there are lot of slow competent drivers. SCCA racing is not exactly deep talent pool.

Phantom9192 Secondly they're tips in gaining a few mph on spec'd cars with sealed engines. Trust me I know first hand. Not saying you did but it happens quite often. Some legal some not all depends on the class rules. Noobs never know about this only seasoned drives know how to stretch these babies out.
@Racer_X
@Racer_X 10 жыл бұрын
SonzillaGTR Hey Sonzilla, good points, all. In this field of 33 cars, there were certainly a fair number of drivers that rarely if ever compete for a win in a competitive class. That being said, the top 10 was solid national level race winners with the top 3 being comprised of professional race winners, national level karting winners, and a multi-time national formula car champion. It wasn't the first 15 cars that were the big challenge. :) Regarding the spec nature, we have serious tech supported by draconian penalties (banned from class quickly). People have indeed been caught in the past, but it's rare and at the front of our field if someone is cheating you can tell. If so, you protest them and they get caught. The biggest differential for these low compression 4-bangers is fuel and while we have rules, it's not tested at every event. I've been told that you can see up to a 3-4% increase in power with improved responsiveness with the right customized (and dangerous) fuel. As such, at the bigger races, fuel is checked consistently and often a dedicated track-only available fuel is required. As spec and compliance goes, you truly won't find a more tightly controlled class in all of motor racing in my opinion. The only real HP to be gained legally is via dyno time with oils and sensors (different resistances affect the map) and work on rolling resistance. A very well-prepped car can find some gains there. Mine is not one of those. :) Thanks for posting!

Where's the post-race inspection? His car was the strongest out there by a good ways. 10% more seems conservative. By the end, he had no tires left yet was on their tails in a fraction of a lap. I don't know I'd be too proud about showing this video.

@Gp2 Engine I don't know about that, but I don't think he did. What makes you think so?
@MrSaemichlaus
@MrSaemichlaus 4 жыл бұрын
@Gp2 Engine I don't see a dramatic difference in acceleration. Looks like it's all the same car models. His setup and laptime is probably better (considering he made it into the upper ranks of the starting grid), he rides other cars' draft and he picks better lines through the corners, by which he gains distance and exit speed. Give me a timestamp where you think his hp makes a difference.
@MrSaemichlaus
@MrSaemichlaus 4 жыл бұрын
@Gp2 Engine Here's my analysis of 01:13 I suppose we're talking about how he gained on number 21. He came out of the previous corner faster than 21, which enabled him to easily get alongside 21 for the next corner. 21 then held back into the next corner because he probably recognized that there wasn't much point in putting up a fight. The harder question is why didn't 21 come out of the previous corner faster? The reason for that is that he was stuck behind the pack. 21 was on the outside of the next up car (also red), so had to hold back the throttle to make the corner. Two cars going alongside through a turn are both slower than one car by itself, using the width of the track. I suppose 21 also held back expecting the other red car who was overtaking him on the inside to run out wide as soon as possible, therefore 21 was not holding on to the space the other car was trying to claim going out of the turn.
@MrSaemichlaus
@MrSaemichlaus 4 жыл бұрын
@Gp2 Engine 02:33 Our guy and the red/blue car were sitting in the slipstream of the yellow and black cars through the straight, enabling them to gain speed and to overtake the 2 frontmen towards the end of the straight. The pack of 4 also gained on the green/white car in front, who had no slipstream from anyone to speak of and also gave the pack of 4 slipstream. At the end of the straight, all 5 cars compressed closer together, as the ones at the back catapulted past with slipstream advantage. This goes to show that on a final straight, it may be better to start in second and use slipstream to gain speed and pass before the finish line, instead of hogging first place and lose acceleration by plowing through undisturbed air.
