Would love to see a video on Bao Dur's ambiguous fate at the end of the game; why does he disappear during the sith assault on citadel station and Telos and make no more physical appearances in the game? Does he die helping HK-47 reach the droid factory at the hands of the enemy, or did he actually survive? (Since HK succeeds in his mission to infiltrate it; it's not beyond the realms of possibility that they split up and Bao Dur was able to slip away just like he did when Czerka initially captured him just before the Exile first arrives on Telos' surface) If he does survive, why does Bao Dur leave his remote onboard the Ebon Hawk with a pre-recorded hologram to repurpose the mass shadow generator using crashed ships to destroy Malachor V, rather than going and doing it himself? Are the thoughts of Bao Dur that the Exile hears during the final journey to Malachor Bao Dur's actual thoughts from wherever he is, (And if he is dead, is he a force ghost?) or is it an echo of Bao Dur left behind on the ship that he spent so much of the game repairing? (Since Bao Dur is also revealed to be force sensitive, the idea that he has the power to create echos like the Exile is really fascinating to me) Alternatively is Bao Dur's voice essentially used as the Exile's conscience in that scene; it's the Exile talking themselves into returning to the scene of genocide and trauma, because they knew Bao Dur would have wanted them to do it. I also wonder how Bao Dur knew about Kreia's plan; he was always aware that the Exile could read his thoughts and it seems the fact that Kreia is unable to read his is an intentional thought shield/block on his part by essentially thinking in a code that Kreia mistakes for an alien language; similar to how Atton shields his thoughts. I always interpreted it that Bao Dur fully trusts the Exile and allows them to read his thoughts, (And indeed senses when the Exile is reading them) whereas he absolutely does not trust Kreia at all. Bao Dur states in his hologram that the Exile suspects the sith are striking from Malachor V, and by the time the Jedi Masters have gathered on Dantooine, Bao Dur seems to have pieced together Kreia's plan and begs the Exile to allow him to stop it.

@@GeriatricFan1963 Originally he was going to die on Citadel Station during Nihilus's attack on the planet as a heroic sacrifice to allow the Exile to reach the Ravager which is why Bao-Dur plays no part in the following events. The remote would them follow the Exile into Malachor 5 and play Bao-Dur's final holorecording telling his final commands following his passing. Since the game was never finished Bao-Dur's fate was never explicitly shown leaving players in the dark as to his fate at the end of the game.

The Jedi Exile and Darth Nihilus. Two indivuals with an extraordinary, almost superhuman will to live. But with two different solutions to survive. (Kind of sounds like Suzaku from Code Geass. But without the mind control.) I also lean on the side of him being a Jedi Revanchist. Although I guess you can still make an argument that he could have been a regular soldier with untapped Force powers. Kreia says that the power he uses only comes about through sheer instinct. So maybe that massive will to live resulted in this ability just bursting out of him in that moment of desperation.

Even though Darth Nihilus and Meetra Surik are alike being wounds in the force...yeah they are different. The Jedi council was afraid of Meetra's abilities and would turn on them and turn to the dark side. That's the major problem I have with KOTOR 2 that you can play light or dark side but according to the Star Wars lore because the Exile is a wound in the force she couldn't feel the lure of the Dark side

I prefer to think Nihilus being an alter-ego force spirit of the Exile, the part of them that was separated when they severed the connection to the Force. KOTOR 2 is the Exile's journey to find themselves again and facing the consequences of their deed in the past. Fighting and conquering 'some form of yourself' fits that theme quite well.

My personal headcannon is that Nihilus was once a solider that the Exile fell in love with. He was aware that he was force sensitive before Melachor 5. After the Mass Shadow generator, he feed off the force of other survivors by accident. Slowly loosing his humanity as he learns to feed off the force on purpose. First out of necessity, than out of hunger.
@DBArtsCreators

I'd say there is more evidence that Nihlius was NEVER a force-user before Malachor. He had no idea how to use the Force, and was consuming the Force without realizing it. He was relying on instinct. Rather than being a perfect mirror to the Exile, I see him as the antithesis of the Exile - a Mandalorian foot soldier that was on Malachor's surface during that final battle, with the trauma of the MSG awakening his Force abilities as he refused to die (unlike the Exile, the Jedi general who cut herself off out of fear & necessity because of her Force bonds in order to survive). That's why he never joined in the Jedi Civil War & was basically an unknown until Kreia found him in the aftermath of the Jedi Civil War - until she found him, he was just a shadow of his former self, wandering the world and feeding on any survivors, beasts, & eventually Sith wanderers he came across. Likely like the Exile, he avoided contact with others (much like how even during the events of the game he is actively resisting giving into his hunger - seen by how the only planet he has actually destroyed was Kataar, where he is literally baited out by accident) until Kreia found him & taught him about his power (perhaps against his will, much like Sion. She had her goals, but he & Sion were her experiments on finding ways to destroy the Force as much as they were her students). Think of what Visas says about Nihlius when asked why he took her and showed her the world without the Force: that he believes he is doing GOOD by wiping out life and leaving calm, silent, orderly stillness in his wake, rather than the chaotic destruction life results in. That doesn't sound like your typical "reveling in their own power" Sith or otherwise evil person. That sounds like someone with PTSD who's gone insane from extensive isolation, torture & whatever desperate acts they were forced to do to survive (which I imagine going from a 'normal soldier' to 'eating the souls of the living in order to survive' is quite traumatic). Add on that the ONE thing he does in the game (besides send Visas after you & attack Telos after once again being baited; which he doesn't even consume immediately once he gets to Telos if I might add), is provide aid to Vaklu in breaking away from the Republic. The ONE thing he does, is basically just continue the fight of the Mandalorian Wars in a more 'diplomatic' way (aiding an old opponent of the Mandalorians in order to hurt the Republic), and even then he does so subtlety until the actual time of the battle, using minimal Force influence and instead just providing soldiers and some tamed beasts to help out. (I also headcanon that The Ravager that Nihlius commands is actually the Exile's ship from the Mandalorian Wars; a thematic reminder that the consequences of all of the Exile's past actions during the war are now properly coming home to roost).

Part of me wishes that rather than Nihilus being a man who lost his humanity at Malachor, instead he never existed prior to that moment, with the planet and the Mass Shadow Generator being what actually "birthed" him, with him in actual fact being the embodiment of Meetra's wound, a shadow of all that she had lost given form and driven by her ability to form deep connections warped by the wound leading him to exploit those connections and drain them, sustaining himself at the expense of those he connected with.

While I agree he was most likely a Jedi before he transformed, I also think he could have still been a republic soldier, but one of the force-sensitive ones who perhaps knew a little of what he was, but lacked the training of the Jedi. He could have been like Atton; One of those who were earmarked by Revan for something more later on, before the Sith teachings began to spread through the ranks proper.

Amazing and great video my friend as always. I told you years back if you remember that from watching Darthycey's videos it showed a Jedi with 2 other companions fighting the Mandalorians on Malachor's surface. After the Mass Shadow Generator was activated these 3 Jedi somehow survived but one of them felt different and weak from the effects of the Mass Shadows and he drained the force from his friends because he had to feed his hunger. I compared what happened to Nihilus on Malachor V like a metamorphosis of Dr. Banner becoming the Hulk after being exposed to Gama rays

I do love that they deliberately kept Darth Nihilus' origins open for debate. I do agree that he could have been a Jedi who followed Revan to war and had unique abilities like Meetra Surik that allowed him to survive the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator. The fact he drained the life force of those around him in the aftermath of the traumatic event could indicate that there were other force users on the planet at the time of the activation, although he did have the ability to drain the life force from non force-sensitive individuals, as hinted by Visas Marr when she mentions that if he could not find force-sensitives to feed from in the battle of Telos IV that he would destroy Citadel Station, cleanse it of life and feed off its destruction instead. The other possibility is that he was either a Mandalorian or Republic soldier who was on the planet at the time of the Mass Shadow Generator's activation who was force-sensitive but unknowingly so to him and others around him. Acting on pure instinct he tapped into the dark side of the force to drain the lives of those around him to feed his hunger and temporarily ease his pain. It's explained that he lost "everything" in the war, including friends and family and as a Jedi he may have been less likely to have those attachments. As a foot soldier for either side in the war he would have definitely had friends and family members that he lost and that probably caused him to fall to the dark side and eventually come to be dependent on it continue to exist, despite in his case it ravaging his body to the extent he was forced to place his spirit in his mask and robes while his physical body wasted away.

It is pretty fascinating to think what kind of powers and abilities the True Sith would have had in the intended planned Kotor 3 game for them to be more horrific then Darth Nihilus. The kind of scale they would have been to terrify Revan and Malak and annihilated the Republic had they invaded they must have been unnatural dark wound so bad even more powerful then Palpatine ever been on the Expanded Universe even with Force storms. Something much much worse. If Ajunta Pall is to be believed whatever guided them was probably with these True Sith antagonists. Especially in the planned Kotor 3 beginning they would have overwhelmed the Exile's power. So whatever they were they were greater then Nihilus which would make sense if they were to annihilate the Old Republic had they invaded. They must have been near Abeloth's level and almost like the Forces of Chaos from 40k.

My thoughts on Darth Nihilus were always that part of the horror of what he was, is that it honestly didn’t matter who he was before. He had become a transcendent thing, a living wound in the Force that felt nothing but hunger and spoke in terrible tongues. The kind of being that’s more of a creature now, a straight up monster born of the Dark Side. But before that he was anybody. An average person in the war. He could’ve been a Jedi, maybe a Sith, maybe even a Mandalorian. Or a simple resident of Malachor who had the misfortune to be there on the day of the Battle. But the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator by the Exile transformed him, against his will, into a malevolent beast that, unlike the Exile who forms bonds with others, consumes others as fuel for the abomination. We never learned his name, because before, nobody knew it. And after, when you speak his name he senses you through the Force like Sauron. If Vader is more machine than man, Nihilus is more monster, he no longer even has a body, just a haunted set of robes and a mask now. He’s as I understand it a very literal embodiment of the Exile’s past sins, and it was only the Exile who could defeat him. Darth Nihilus is the ghosts of the countless, nameless thousands she casually murdered.

Did you play the first game? Or the second? Or the MMO? The Exile turned themselves in before Revan’s Sith Empire was established, the only renegade Jedi to surrender after the Mandalorian Wars. She had already cut herself off from the Force of her own accord, a punishment of her own guilty conscience’s making. Revan did indeed go on to wage war against the Republic, before being betrayed and captured, and having his memories wiped. After that, sure he did regain his memories and sense of self, but it wasn’t some planned part of the punishment, his intended fate was to die in obscurity. The fact that he overcame his inner darkness and came back to the light isn’t unfair, it’s the whole plot of the first game. Just as Meetra overcoming the scars of her past is the plot of her game. It sounds though like you mistakenly think Revan’s life was a grand parade from then on. He was imprisoned by a malevolent Emperor for hundreds of years, the Emperor’s thoughts twisting and commingling with his own, only to die shortly after being freed and then not know a moment of peace even in death, as his soul itself was split in two. That life honestly sucks major ass, no matter how much one values looking badass and being horny for Bastila.

How did she survive? I don't know. However I think I have a good understanding of why he spared her, when he found her on the surface of the now wasteland planet, he was reminded of himself and his traumatic past and what he had gone through on Malachor V, everything around him was dead after the mass shadow generator went off, but he was left alive and traumatized all alone, having lost those close to him and all that was dear to him. When Nihilus saw Visas, he was also seeing his past self. Thus, he maybe spared her out of the little pity and empathy that was left within Darth Nihilus.

@Cailus3542
@Cailus3542 Жыл бұрын
The tragedy of Nihilus comes when you remember how Force bonds occur: through empathy. The Exile's talent for Force bonds wasn't just a magic power. It was an outgrowth of her natural ability to connect to people, to forge strong relationships, to understand them on a deep level. This manifested in the Force as actual metaphysical bonds. Nihilus was likely quite similar; friendly, empathetic, compassionate. The bonds that he forged with various Jedi and soldiers were strong because he cared deeply for them, and they for him. This is why I don't believe that Nihilus had fallen to the Dark Side by the time of the battle, or else those deaths wouldn't have had such a titanic impact on his soul. His own compassion and love destroyed him. Darth Nihilus, much like Darth Revan and Darth Vader, was all the more monstrous because he was originally a good man and probably a great Jedi. When people try to write Nihilus as having been evil all along, they rather miss the point, in my opinion.

The concept of a wound in the force being created through mass instant loss and death has only been portrayed through light side figures being affected. Meetra and Nihilus (the latter turning to the dark side). It makes me wonder if and how it would affect an already darksider if at all. Another similar case is the destruction of Alderaan. Could a similar wound in the Force have been created from that? The only Force sensitives known at that site was Vader and Leia. As Vader was a Sith it might not create a wound, but had Leia been more adept could it have affected her. Although part of the requirements is to posses the unique Force bond power, I wonder if it’d still have been possible by Alderaan.

Yeah this makes the most sense. I'd speculate that he's related with Meetra somehow too but that'd make the galaxy seem small and Meetra would have sensed something if that was the case. Although with Jedi raised from birth there's a chance they'd be separated and they wouldn't know about each other, so it's plausible. If he were female I'd consider the possibility of him being Vima Sunrider since she trained Meetra and knew of her innate ability to create Force bonds. Perhaps that training would have gone both ways or Vima also had similar abilities. Annoyingly Vima just disappears from canon due to licensing so there's no indication what happened to her after the Mandalorian Wars.

Considering how many that followed Revan and Malak to, and directly after the Mandalorian wars. And that Revan would do what was needed to succeed in battle when it came to Malachor V, surely there would be followers of his left behind after the MSG was activated. Its relatively obvious conclusion as to Nihlus’ origins really. No arguments here.

Can someone explain in what way the Exile was a Wound in the Force? I get how it happened, but not the fallout. Yes she cuts herself off from the Force, but other Force users have also done that, so it's not unique to her. It just seems like she suffers no ill consequence for being a Living Wound, unlike Nihilus who has to consume the Force just to keep himself together
@BrD4GOD
@BrD4GOD Жыл бұрын
That's her whole point of the character arc and why she makes sense with what Treya was trying to do. The thing that makes her different is that the Exile survived the exile process. Everyone else would've died or never regained full memory if they were strong enough. Being disconnected from the force was basically a death sentence. Idk if I'm answering your question. I think it was the ability to make force bonds with the others. The force bonding is what Treya wanted to spread that wound everywhere. Idk exactly how the wound is but Treya could detect it within the Exile. She wanted the force itself to die because she hated the force. For some reason due to her past, being cut off and such, she somehow disconnected herself from it and killed it simeoultaneously. Nihilus was just consuming. The Exile killed it off completely somehow.
@TY-km8hj
@TY-km8hj Жыл бұрын
Basically when the mass shadow generators activated all the deaths and asufdering echoed out in the force and overwhelmed essentially everyone. Her and Nihilus are the only ones the survive such an event. They're two sides of the same coin. Darth Nihilus consumes the force energy of others in order to survive what happened to him. The exiles situation is similar except she acc survived relatively unscathed since nihilus is being consumed by his hunger. The exile survived and doesn't have access to the force. She essentially a void, and the way she taps back into it is thru her ability to forge strong force bonds very quickly drawing ppl to her. And these bonds are what makes her able to access the force even tho she's technically deaf to it. The reason the exile was important was cos kreia wanted the exiles wound to be amplified at the core of malachor in order to deafen the entire galaxy so that all the wars and suffering that spring from the force and the jedi/sith who harness it can come to an end.

When the Mass Shadow Generator was activated, hundreds of thousands of people (including many Jedi) died in excrucriating pain. Their agonised screams actually damaged the Force, turning Malachor V into a nightmare. The Sith studied that and derived special Force techniques against which there was no defence. That's how the Sith assassins killed so many Jedi, and how Kreia murdered three Jedi Masters at once with such ease. Nihilus and the Exile were unique cases. They both had many strong Force bonds with soldiers and Jedi who died at Malachor V. As a result, when those people died, their screams, their horror and their agony were felt by Nihilus and the Exile, all at once. All of those screams ripped into their souls and their connections to the Force, damaging them, much like those screams damaged the Force itself. The Exile and Nihilus became wounds in the Force, just like Malachor V. The Exile reacted by instinctively tearing herself away from the Force entirely. Her soul was still horribly damaged, and she still bore those screams inside her, but without the Force, she was numb, deafened. It saved her, though at an enormous cost. Nihilus, by contrast, was consumed by all that pain. His connection to the Force became diseased; now, he was in constant unbearable agony, unable to escape the horror that he felt at Malachor. The only thing eased his duffering was consuming life, preferably Force-sensitive life, to fill the void that those screams created. The Exile regained a connection to the Force through a Force bond with Kreia, effectively bypassing her own damaged connection to the Force. It wasn't a perfect solution. Those screams still lingered in her soul, so the Exile still unknowingly fed on the people around her, strengthening her and drawing them to her. It was just less potent because the Exile could only touch the Force through Kreia, and because she resisted the temptation to succumb to the Dark Side and her own unconscious hunger. Given how powerful she became in a short space of time, it's impossible to know what would've happened in the long term. She may have eventually become a monster like Nihilus, or something even worse. Kreia hoped that the Exile could eventually destroy the Force itself. Of course, when the Exile destroyed what was left of Malachor V, she healed the wound in the Force that she created all those years ago. That catharsis healed her own trauma, restoring her connection to the Force, finally silencing those screams in her soul.

No one else has ever cut themselves off from the Force in Star Wars canon nor Legends. Others have closed themselves off to the Force, or had the Force forcibly locked off to them by others, but only the Exile ever forcibly cut THEMSELVES off. When such happened, she should have presumably died from the shock, but she didn't. She essentially ripped out her soul/brain/heart (whatever vital organ/aspect you want to point to) and kept living in spite of that. And she did suffer severe consequences from this - she is no longer connected to the Force (meaning no Force ghost - the TOR MMO being a non-canon retcon as a result). That means it & she can't influence each other (hence her losing all her Force abilities despite still known how to use them; hence why the game refers to her as "regaining" her powers instead of developing new ones the majority of the time). Her ability to use the Force in-game is directly a result of Kreia forging a Force Bond with her and feeding the Force into her that way - basically turning her into a Neutron Star to Nihlius's black hole. She has no ability to generate the Force herself, but once fed a bit, her innate ability to develop Force bonds was able to trigger and began latching onto every living thing she was around, causing a feed back loop (and also allowing her to absorb the Force from those she killed, also similar to Nihlius but without automatically draining their life by simply being near them). Due to her nature however, these Force bonds also influence everything she is bonded to, transmitting to everyone what she feels (for instance, if she were to die, everyone she's bonded to would feel that death, potentially dying as well). This includes "the echo of Malachor", which is the wound in the Force Malachor exhibits. Should that echo not be resolved, it will continue to reverberate louder off the Exile (due to her Force bonding and the feed back loop) and then reach everyone else the Exile is tied to (potentially cutting them off or killing them in the process, much like what happened to the Exile). Everyone & everything the Exile has ever interacted with since the Mandalorian Wars would essentially be forced to go through the Exile's situation where she cut themselves off.

Idk about this one. He was always being referred to as one man who is a wound in the force. That in order for him to live he must consume. Seems to me like one man figured out a way to live through the pain in one of the darkest ways possible. Not many people inside of one body but one big wound in the force through one man. The wording is hard here but your point makes less sense to me based on what the game says.
