I love this podcast gives me something to look forward to in my day. As for the vegans I completely get what they mean. ( I was vegan for a year. However, vegetarian from birth due to genetic metabolic disorder.) Nigel made me realize that is exactly what vegan restaurants are like. Being pacific islander I don't always have much connection to the Asian community. Especially being "white presenting."

I relate to Nigel's struggle with getting friends. I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2014 and last year we moved to Aalborg, other side of Denmark, to get closer to my fiance's family, but now I have to start from scratch with trying to make friends - again. 😅

Hey guys! This is a heavier subject, but I would love to know what you think about the excessive plastic surgery and devastating impacts of the beauty culture in Asian countries, especially in Korea. I personally have very strong opinions on plastic surgery and beauty culture in general, but when I see people changing their eyelids, whitening their skin, and literally changing the entire landscape of their face to fit someone else's ideal, I am heartbroken. Also, you can tell right away and the person looks like, well, plastic. I haven't been able to talk to any Asians in depth about this to learn more about the perspective, but the negative global impacts of the beauty industry have really been heavy on my heart. Anyway, would love to hear your perspective. Thank you in advance, much love to you both! ♥

Poor Nigel, the fear of being attacked. I am not Asian, but I'm often mistaken for being. I married Asian, have Asian in-laws, have 1/2 Asian kids (adults now) I fear for all of their safety when they are out. This new hatred for the community is just ridiculous and sad.😠😢

"Indonesian vegetarian food doesn't look good." ----- Ouch, hurts my Indonesian pride right in the kokoro 😥 But I get it, eating various kinds of food does bring you more joy in life! And no food allergy 😁 Not a vegan myself but I grew up with lots of yummy vegetarian foods in Indonesia + other tasty meat-based Indonesian cuisines ofc. Rendang, nasi padang & tempe goreng sambal ftw!

In one of your videos, you said because the workers are Chinese, they were obviously cutting corners when working on the project. I hope everyone will realize the discrimination between Asians groups runs deep. I wish to see you and Nigel discussed is the infighting between Asians. Terms like jungle Asians. And the widely accepted online ridicule and attack on mainland Chinese by HKers, TWnese, Koreans. Or similar ly Chinese online attacking people from HK/TW for political reasons, Or attack on Asians with Chinese origin in Indonesia, Malaysia etc due to their economical and financial success. We should finally wake up and understand we are the same in the eyes of outsiders. They see us as the same when they shoot us, and push our elders to the ground the same way. They don't care about our country of origin. We need to unite.

Although I am not Asian I enjoy this podcast immensely and have huge respect and love for the Asian communities in the UK, Don't let the minority of assholes here make you feel unwelcome. London is a particularly bad place to live these days too, I managed 3 years before I gave up on it. The one thing I do miss is Seewoo though... I spent ALOT of time there when it was in Greenwich!

Evelyn, great idea on the emergency contact! It would need to be verified so someone didn’t have ulterior motives, almost like a service where people are background checked and they are on a rolling list of available people who can be your emergency contact. Excuse my run on sentence! - but I like the idea. I’ve thought of something similar. I was alone for years in different cities for my job - (large cities where I didn’t have close friends or family) so I always worried what would happen to me if something bad did happen and who would I call? (Hello from a super hypochondriac too) - I wondered Who would take me home from the hospital. Etc. I’m sure there are plenty of other people thinking and needing the same thing!

I found this podcast when Uncle Roger first went viral and the podcast first went on KZbin. I’ve seen how Evelyn’s hair color went from Western to Eastern, and Nigel’s face getting a bit chubbier (but cuter). Hehe! What this podcast has done for me is brought out the milder version of Nigel in me to people I’m comfortable with, minus the vulgarities 😅😂
