The scene at 1:12 with Minnie Caldwell is hilarious as usual 😂😂. I love that character to bits. From mentioning two of my favourite singers to randomly talking about aspidistras . Betty's reaction is priceless too hahahaha. God bless them all !

Just love all the early corrie but still don't like Ken makes my blood every time he opens that mouth of his they should have got rid of him and left valerie but she may have had more commitments wonder how Peter would have turned out 😉😉😉

Going to a hairdresser was expensive, so those ladies were going to protect their permanent waves and roller sets at all costs. Yes, you don't really see women out wearing headscarves anymore. The relative ease of wearing hair straight did away with those. Plastic rain bonnets too.

@19:00 oh the writers got it there! Bet is speaking some raw (dark) truth in this monologue... It's true, even now some 40 years later! Us girls are either good girls or "others". And if you don't fit in as one of the good girls, you're out on an island!
@woohooboy

Bet's argument (whilst valid) doesn't ring true in her particular circumstance. She knowingly got involved with a bloke who was getting mixed up in criminal activity. Someone who chucked her overboard when he refused to straighten himself out. Don't expect someone to be on the level when they weren't on the level in the first place.....
@londonlady1966

@@woohooboy But she had Alec Gilroy who wasn't a criminal and he still messed around on her. She's right. Some women just get the raw deal.. everytime.
@woohooboy
@woohooboy 3 жыл бұрын
@@londonlady1966 - Alec was lacking in other areas (some of which were obvious - ie: his ability to take advantage of others in order to turn a profit). Bet's problem is that the fellas she chose to be with had "red flags" regarding their background/behaviour. She would frequently ignore the warning signs until it was too late. Her expectations quite often didn't meet up with reality and the poor thing always wound up hurt and dejected.
