1. That's not "his" voice 2. It is his fault They're undeniably trying to copy the sound of a 70s band. Probably just as a quick attention grabber. Their logo is stylized as something from the 70s. Their attire. Even the way they move. Watch how Robert Plant holds his mic and grooves to the music, and compare to Greta Van Fleet. I don't believe I've seen anyone BUT Robert Plant move in such a manner.... Until now. One singer can have the vocal tonalities of many different things. A British person can sing American Country if they wanted to and sound pretty damn close, for example. ( *cough* Danny Worsnop *cough* ) Josh Kiszka is intentionally trying to sound like Robert Plant. Period. If he was using his unique voice, he wouldn't be so ubiquitously compared.

If people want to accuse these guys of ripping off Zeppelin, including Robert Plant himself, people need to remember that it was Janis Joplin who sang in this style first. Janis Joplin was almost 7 years before Zeppelin even made their first album. A lot of people accused not only Robert Plant, but his entire band from ripping off Janis Joplin. Anyone who says that Robert Plant didn't take Janis Joplin's singing style is fooling themselves. Janis was the first. Listen to any of her bands early stuff before Zeppelins first album in 68, not just her singing. From Joplin's first album in 62 to her last album, you can hear where Zeppelin got their style from, Janis Joplin and her entire band.

Joplin could screach alright. Plant and this guy took her style,but they're singers, not wailers.

I still dont like them. Their sound is sloppy and they sound like a high school band. Lead vocalist has range, no denying that, but I'm just not a fan. That was my whole point. I have no doubt Janis was first, but Robert Plant didn't sound like Janis, just influenced by her. This kid is a total RIP off of Plant. Mic drop...

Let me just say as a music lover, I love that he sounds like Robert Plant but on other songs of theirs he doesnt. On Black Smoke Rising he reminds me of Rush. And all of you that call these kids a rip off are freaking jealous you don't get mistaken for Plant when you sing. Rock & Roll lives on in a new generation. If you don't like 'em listen to something else & F off.
@idcniles7 жыл бұрын
my thoughts exactly. I'm amazed kids so young have a fucking interest in what real rock music sounds like. These guys get it. Rock on young dudes!
@nowitssovivid12737 жыл бұрын
OMG, I agree about the Rush comparison! I have been telling people this but no one gets it, lol, it's maddening. Also, Led Zeppelin had a great sound, but it was arguably just as derivative as *any other band*. I hate it when people are precious about musicians. They're not gods, you ninnies, they're people who make music who are inspired by other people who made music. FFS

Hes kind of part Kiszka, part Plant and part Lee. I like them a lot. I am a huge, HUGE zep fan and have been since the 70's.I am probably what you would call a hardcore zep fan. I remember when kingdom come came out in the mid 80's and they got panned by the media for sounding like zep. That is BS. Zep borrowed heavily from those before them. I hope they continue on and continue to grow into their own sound.
@specialdefect007 жыл бұрын
They're a rip-off and I'm not jealous. Nothing to be jealous about in being a rip-off. U have to be deaf if u can't hear the drums and the guitar sound exactly like Zeppelin's also. When bands are copying each other u say- no creativity, but copy Led zeppelin ....."what a talent, what a band..." For fucks sake there was only one Led Zeppelin.... U can have classic sound and not sound like a ripoff.. jack white, royal blood , black keys...shitload of bands to listen without getting the feeling of listening someones clones.anyway, one season band.. Cheers
@therottenrandy6 жыл бұрын
I completely agree...started out sounding like Robert Plant. Then it was, "Hey, that reminds me of Geddy Lee!" There are parts of some songs where he reminds me of Eddie Vedder too. Pretty impressive band. Can't believe how effortless the singer makes it all seem.

His vocals may resemble Plant, but his stage movements and mic holding are more like Roger Daltrey. And that's a good thing. There's nothing wrong with emulating what you love as well as carving out a niche of your own. These kids are wonderful, and when you see and listen to them in studio interviews and the like, they are really sweet, kind guys. And yes, with them being in their early 20's they're going to have a little spunk to them, so get over it, that's what helps make their music. I am so impressed with them as individuals, and then the music they create is such incredible icing, their contagious energy and pure, clean enjoyment of what they do is something I haven't seen in a very long time. His voicing also reminds me a little bit of the original lead singer of Blind Melon, Shannon Hoon. Plus there's this odd quirky, humorous vocal side to the singer that also reminds me of Adam Sandler. And then when you listen to him speak in interviews, his normal voice sounds like actor Curtis Armstrong from Revenge of the Nerds and Risky Business. An interesting amalgamation of talent within one body. Makes for a quite remarkable stage attraction. And the band sound with that voice . . . unbeatable with a special presence all their own. Congrats GVF!
