Let's imagine that someone asks you: "If you were to describe yourself in just five words, what would they be?" They’re asking you to summarize your life, your character, and your accomplishments in just five words? Your mind races as you search for the right words. Let me ask you, would any of the words be "holy"? Would you select the word "holy" to describe your life? Probably not, because like most people, we don't consider that word "holy" for ourselves. It's a word used for Sunday mornings or something to describe missionaries, saints, and well ... other people.
In the minds of many, holiness exists somewhere out there. Most people would want to be described as a tough, fearless, risk-taker, successful, and fun. "Holy"... not quite the word a list of top 5 words to describe someone. For the ladies, holiness may be something closer on the radar than men, but words like beautiful, caring, loving, tender, and compassionate, would possibly be sought out first. The average person equates "being holy" with sober, sad, boring, tight, and super religious. But, "holiness" means to be set apart. And really, who wouldn’t want to be recognized as set apart? Listen to the devotional and be challenged!
