I really enjoy your great work with wonderful trees. We have several mills here in the USA that do the same work but it's mostly wood that grows here. You are very fortunate to have such a variety of amazing trees at your disposal. The one thing most American sawmills do that I would love to see you do is pour a bucket of water over the cut plank to really show off the wonderful grains and colors as it would look with a clear coat finish. Keep up the good work. 👍 6:57

I love the dignity with which each plank is removed. Respect.

Konichwa. The wood looks very good. There is a harmony in the way you work together. Domo arigati. 😅

The grain appears to approach that of boxwood in terms of fineness. It has got to be a joy to work with.
Talking about "scent".... We smelled the tiny drops of pine resin from the cone of a 1000-2000 year old Bristlecone Pine" at 3500 m .... So fresh, so powerful, from a tree with the life force to last up to 4000 years at 3500 M! Wind, lightning, winters... Truly, one can say, "spiritual"! I see the care and reverence here, for this tree...

I admire your respect for the wood. I like to work with wood too, so I can see.

I’m always curious about the single pass to allow the blade set to contact the surface for a second time. I would have thought that the return pass after a cut would be sufficient to enrich the surface?

Some saw dust dries up and falls off naturally after a single round trip, but some types of wood stick to the surface. Depending on the type and condition of the wood, saw dust may harden and stick. I guess second pass would remove saw dust stuck to cutting surface. The humidity in Japan is high throughout the year, so corrosion can spread from sawdust sticking to the boards and damage them.

How many years did it take you to alway end with the last cut being in the center? 😮
