Antonio deCarmoducci I think the more thoughtful humans who view this channel enjoy seeing all walks of life and income levels enjoy the outdoors and their rigs. If you or someone else is feeling intimidated by another vehicle on the roadway you may need to re- align your perspective on life. As you know assholes can drive all sorts of vehicles. I would also caution anyone making assumptions about wealth vs the age of vehicle someone drives. The smartest ( and wealthiest) people I have met drive “ shitty old rigs” that are paid off, parked at homes they own, and use the rig until the end of its service life. Hopefully you won’t need one of these shitty old rigs to pull your ass out of a ditch someday 😉

Best comment ever in this. 2" lift & 32/33" tyres are all you need for what most of us do off-road touring. Cracking everyday vehicle video & great for anyone wanting to start out 4wd touring 👍

GAJ I thought exactly the same thing! As he said, it's all about the driver. I've seen mates with 35s get in trouble because they think they are unstoppable. When you consider 2WD VW Kombi used to cross the Simpson once. A friend crossed the Simmo last year in his Mitsubishi Van

I would have also included a rain water harvesting system up on the roof. Better than trying to pump water out of creeks and rivers. It is amazing how many liters of water you can collect if you are driving in the rain. Can use that for showers and filter it for drinking. Its an expedition essential if you ask me.

I have a FJZ105R, never heard of this issue or experienced it. Maybe the previous owner fixed it? I know of other issues like the left front axle seal failing and the recall on the cable holding the spare up underneath the vehicle.
@richardhunt61125 жыл бұрын
SEE YAI AYE well there you go, my 98 GXL 1HZ manual had its front left axle seal fail soon after I bought it in 2005 with 92k kms on it. The first time I took it back to a Toyota dealer in late 2005 the service manager advised that they would be replacing the spare wheel cable with the updated chain assembly. Apparently there were 105 spare wheels strewn across the outback due to broken cables with the owners only realising their spare had fallen off 500 kms down the track. I'm finally going to fit out my 105 for overland touring and this video has given me all the inspiration and ideas (love those drifta drawers and camp kitchen) I need to get it done.
@SEEYAIAYE5 жыл бұрын
@@richardhunt6112 Blame the offset in the diff for that, while they did a lot of neat stuff in the 80-105 series it's bizarre they never really thought that the longer left hand front side axle would experience way more stress in the long run. Know of a few 80 series owners who have had the issue but damn, yours failing in under 100k is pretty unlucky. Had a few people help with mine, hate to think what the mechanic charged you.
