Another fun fact about New Leaf is it was the first game with shorts, pants, long and short sleeved shirts, etc. Because of this, your character will actually respond negatively to the weather if their clothes don't match for it when you first open up the game. For example, if you walk outside mid-afternoon in the summer with pants and a long sleeved shirt on, the villager will fan themselves as if they're hot. This will also happen if you deep sea dive in the winter, early spring, or late fall months. When you come back out of the water, the villager will sneeze or shiver from the cold.

Another fact, which I don't think was covered in the video: Tom Nook is a tanuki because of another part of Japanese mythology. Tanuki have (be mature here, folks) large scrotums and testes, which can be unfolded to provide housing to themselves or other creatures. This is why Nook is always the one to provide you a house, why he seems to reach into his genitalia to get things in the film based on AC, and probably also why he wears an apron. The more you know!

Yes, in the video they say punim which means belly (button) which is also true, Tanuki had large belly buttons, were very rotund, and had huge scrotums! all signs of wealth and fertility. Tanuki are -also- real creatures, raccoon dogs are ancient cousins of modern dogs.

you know, the first time i played animal crossing (i don't do this any more) i messed with the game's clock a bunch, mainly to do simple things like get my mail faster or open shops at times when they should be closed, and every time i would expect Mr. Resetti to pop up, but he never did. then i started moving the clock forward by weeks and even months to get him to show up, but nothing. so, i closed the game, forgetting to save. then the next time i picked it up... "HEY!! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" ..so yeah; i guess quitting without saving really gets his goat, but bending time to your will to the detriment of your entire town is fine.

When I was little, I would make my mom or step dad open my game up, because I was terrified of Resetti. Like, I would cry and make them do it. In fact, here's a story I remember. So, first I was playing Wild World and I was running low on battery. I went to go plug it in but the plug sparked. So I started to cry and asked my step dad to plug it in. He told me to plug it in myself But I kept crying. The light started to blink and I was crying because I knew Mr Ressetti was going to yell at me. I ended up being brave and doing it anyway. And I haven't seen Me Ressetti since. Thank the lord.

Samm & Misty actually, he went into the city with big dreams and had them crushed, so when he came back to open up his shop in his hometown, he had changed due to his hardships in the city. (Probably became more reserved, less trusting, had his perspective changed from ‘i cant wait to live and do so much’ to ‘i need to focus on money to live because thats what makes you successful, not following stupid dreams you’ve had since childhood.’) It was also implied/stated that he has a history with Redd. I can’t remember if it goes into detail about t, but I think Redd might have fucked him over or something at some point. Again, its been a while, i can’t really remember the lore rn lol (Also i think it was implied in New Leaf that Sable and Nook were rebuilding their friendship again, or something along those lines.)

75 is actually a little wrong. while the walk/run cycles change, these changes aren't based on gender, but instead what the player wears. pants and shorts have the character walk/run with arms down, while skirts and dresses have them hold their arms up. this is the same regardless of the character's gender.

The reason Tom Nook calls himself a raccoon is because the direct translation of Tanuki is "raccoon-dog". In our dubs and translations in English, we often just say "raccoon" because we don't think the Western audience will get it. But he's technically a dog. Also, tanuki aren't mythological. They're a very real animal in Japan. They apparently have an appetite for procreation, leading to their statues to have super big balls, symbolizing happiness, prosperity, and thus, wealth. That's why there are so many cartoonized statues of them placed in front of businesses and some households. It's also the reason Tom Nook has so many children, and a prosperous business.

Actually, in Animal Crossing, during localization they made Nook a raccoon (look at the dialog between Lyle and Nook when you're first introduced to Lyle in New Leaf), Kapp'n is a sea turtle, and Redd a fox. It's DOUBUTSU NO MORI where they're a tanuki, kappa, and kitsune. Localization turned them into animals that the West would recognize. That's why they're NOT their Japanese parts in the US version.

You forgot to mention e-cards and e-reader support. ACGC was the only GameCube game to support the Nintendo e-reader outside of Japan. Also in ACGC any letters (or items) stored in the post office will not be deleted when you delete your town's save file. You also didn't mention how storing turnips on tables in WW made them not spoil, or how storing them in the island bungalo or getting them into the lost and found will keep them from spoiling in ACGC. You also forgot to mention how the shrine from DnM+ was turned in the wishing well in ACGC and DnM e+. Or how pulling out an umbrella can keep you from getting stung by bees. Or how certain clothing items in ACNL will keep you from tanning. Or how it's always summer on Animal Crossing island in ACGC and you can catch summer exclusive bugs and fish, or how holidays were removed from ACWW due to it being the game's first international release. This is amazing! Animal Crossing has always been one of my favorite games along with Tomodachi Life and many other Nintendo games. 1) Gulliver in New Leaf also mentions Bobbery from Rogueport, a character & location in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. 2) Sprocket was brought back in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. 3) Resetti’s tendency to scare young kids was probably why, in New Leaf, he only shows up once (until you choose to build his Reset Center, of course!) 4) The Whale Shadow is one of the rarest easter eggs in the game. JVGSJeff just recently uploaded a high quality video if you’d like to see. 6) If you have a Perfect Town, the special tree stumps sometimes grow mushrooms! Also, it’s possible to get the same stump patterns on the Island- I myself have a Triforce stump on my island. :) 7) Another “language” spoken that you can choose in Animal Crossing: Wild World is Bebebese. (Or was it Bebebebese?) 8) The WiiU exclusive Animal Crossing board game came bundled with a Winter Isabelle Amiibo figure as well as a Digby Amiibo. (I’m not sure if this is true outside of the US, though!) When this bundle was released, the Digby figure was exclusive to this bundle. Along with the two standing Amiibo figures it also came bundled with three Amiibo cards (which you could play the game with), which would always be promo Rosie, promo Stitches and promo Goldie. These cards, when used in Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Welcome Amiibo!), have no differences from their normal Amiibo cards. However, the villagers are pictured with different tools and outfits than their original Amiibo cards. Rumour has it that the exclusive cards & Digby Amiibo were to make up for the fact that the game... wasn’t very good.

Literally got the Triforce stump as soon as I bought a silver axe and cut down trees for a new sidewalk. Laid out the sidewalk around it and now I have a garden surrounding it. Makes sense because my villager's name is Farore.
