The ripples are because the weight of the resin was great and the lace has a specific and less moving structure. If they had been of equal tension it would have looked different. But the lace was structured and moved less and the resin was heavier and still moving because of gravity. It's been two years, I'm sure you've conquered this and moved forward. This is a gorgeous bowl and idea! I am inspired!

I agree it's the marking of the lace that had moved in places and was stuck in other place but definitely marking from lace

I’m no expert but it looks like those ridges are a function of the mesh under the lace. The crystals on the outside will make it easier to clean whether you use it for catering or decoratively. What a unique, organic shape!

Try putting your large platter on top of the red bowl. Then the edges would hang over without touching your mat. ?? Maybe ?? Try asking Sue Findlay some of your questions. She does a lot of this kind of art. Crystals on the top would be nice too. So beautiful, I love the clear with the lace. Did you paint the edges with silver? Looks wonderful. You come up with some fabulous ideas!

Upholstery foam or batting works great for this, easy to cut, roll up pieces to the size you need and it's cheap sold at Wal-Mart

I 💕 it. Crystals the other way. I also think that you should do the lace again and add some color. Just the smallest amount to give a tint. Maybe do a series. Also try elevating the platter and then draping over it. You wouldn’t have to fiddle with it so much 😂🤷‍♀️I do love 💕 the shape you came up with. Another idea for shaping is to elevate any plate or flat object and then put plastic over it and pull out the sides to the desired level and then secure them before laying the resin over it. Hopefully that was helpful. 💁🦘🐨

You are such a magical artist! After you did your fabric flower coasters, I ordered a bunch of pieces of applique lace with large flowers. I can see that the skeleton leaves would also be lovely in something like this, if they could be covered with one coat. Or just a doily or some bridal lace. Endless possibilities.beautiful work!

You needed to pin it with some straight pins before cutting it to make it easier. That would make a beautiful tray also. I love how you sewed the lace together it looks very nice. I like it just with the mirror glass. It turned out beautiful. Love it.

Very pretty; great idea with the lace! I think I would have added the crystals to both sides and placed the platter on top of the bowl then the resin on top of the platter for a deeper bowl, but that’s just me :-)
