Madonna had sampled Lou Donaldson - It's Your Thing...this character select song could have been created in 1969! This game still holds up well, I think, especially through emulation on PC, because you get HD resolution, anti-aliasing, and cpu overclocking (to get rid of those nasty slowdowns). I played it last night. Hours went by without me even noticing. Such a good game. I freaking love that emulation is getting better and better. Preservaaatioooon!!

The music in this game is what I call _snowboarding music!_ Not that lame relaxing piano stuff that some snowboarding games insist on using, but actual fast and intense heavy metal and dance/techno tracks.

Love this review dude. Waver race 1080 and excitebike are still some of the best racing games out there bc they beautifly skirt the line between arcade and simulation! The landing mechanics may be difficult to get good at but once you understand them its probably the most rewarding snowboard experience to this day. It really respects the sport. I really hope they bring some new games to the table. Btw 1080 is gradient sensitive so at 7:05 you asked why you fell and its bc you were leaning too far forward. Just lean back a bit and your good. It was always a problem spot for me up until I got it on the Wii U lol. 🤣🤣 the lyrics of the songs almost killed me lol

6:30 tapping z button while landing as you said...that's correct. depending on the ground condition, your board should be angled differently. snow-> your board should be parallel to the ground or slightly lean back ice-> your board should be a little lean forward

Man I SUCKED at this game. my best friend next door had a N64 I had a PS1 so I didn’t get to play this as much as I should’ve but I remember having no idea how I was doing tricks. Game looked unreal for the time tho. Still remember the crazy lighting from the sun on the snow and stuff. Although I still love the game from PS1 days, I believe it was a series called cool boarders? if anyone knows for sure let me know.

I was amazing at this game back in the day. I could execute perfect runs during racing. And I could destroy high scores. Half pipe was my shit though and I had massive high scores in it. I would do tons of 1080s on the pipe. Played the game so much I could do the tricks without even thinking. Still have the game and my original n64 gear, this makes me want to plug it in and look at my scores and see if I can pick it up again.

I've played this game so much I basically have the entire game committed to muscle memory. Back when I used to play this, I eventually learned which jumps had weird landings and what angle I needed on the board in order to stick the landing, and yeah there's quite a few that don't entirely make sense. The ice half-pipe on deadly falls is also a *real* annoyance, you can forget trying to maintain any high level of control there.

I loved 1080 back in the day but I recently got Steep Slope Sliders for Sega Saturn and I actually think its the best of that generations snowboarding games. Cool Boarders series is easily a distant 3rd imo
