*Welcome to this extremely distracted episode* 😄 *Despite the tangents there's plenty of lovely knitting and crochet to share and I hope you enjoy! When I was editing I realised I completely forgot to draw a winner for the Chromaburst by Sophie Hurden! So I shall do this in my next video, which will be a Making Week vlog* 🧶☕🧵🖌 *Thanks so much for watching and I look forward to chatting with you in the comments!* *Ali xx* ✨

Great episode - glad that you have liked visiting Preston and that Lillia is getting her offers through. Did Julie mention that there is a saying people used to use for something that happens rarely - 'Once every Preston Guild' 😄 Coined because the Guild only met once every 20 years. Can't think of a good example but maybe - 'How often do your kids tidy up?' ...reply in exasperated voice 'Once every Preston Guild!' ... but I'm sure this won't be true for your girls 🤗x

Only saying this because I know you don't mind being nudged towards changes that make our world a little more equal between genders, colours of skin, religion etc. P.P.S. Love both your channels.

Ah, good timing; I just made my first Mabel chicken! She is a chunky weight so much smaller than the pattern version. I think she needs some larger friends to protect her. To my understanding, a cockerel is a male chicken that has not reached sexual maturity, so not yet a rooster (lots of jokes in there I am sure). I only have this idea because it was somewhat related to a quiz question some time ago. Mind, I don't remember where I put things, but I remember that 🤷🏼‍♀

Hello! I am so happy you like the yarn. Warms my heart!🧡 I am currently working on a sweater/jumper (Slade Pullover by Cheryl Toy) for my husband. It was supposed to be a Christmas present but I SERIOUSLY underestimated the time I needed to make it. Thankfully, I am on the home stretch and I hope to have it done by the end of February. The yarn I am using is from Topsy Farms in Midnight blue also in worsted weight. The yarn from Arcane Fibre Works makes lovely socks by the way. I have several pairs in various colourways. I use a vanilla sock recipe to let the colours shine. The company is in western Canada and he makes some amazing colours! It is very hard not to buy them all! Hope this finds you well! Cheers!

I just finished my Strictly Socks. lol. They were bamboo and nylon Comfort Sock and they’re sisters too. Curious to see how they hold up. Love your second granny triangle even more than the first. Your hair cut is looking great! I like the sans fringe look and I even like it when you wear it curly. I need to post my blanket, I keep forgetting. You have so many lovely WIPs, I’m so enjoying watching your progress. 🧶♥️🧶. Moms surprise is going to be amazing in those colors. 💜

Hey there Ali. Thanks for the question prompt. No exciting project while watching ...I have been on a crochet kick here lately. This evening while sitting in bed I am crocheting a cotton dish cloth using the My Favorite Dishcloth pattern. It is a very relaxing pattern using moss stitch. Makes a nice gift. I have also been enjoying using up my cotton stash making Bev's Turn on a itself hot pad. it is also very addicting.

Thank you Laura - I absolutely love the Bev's Turn on Itself potholder! It's all I use now in my kitchen, and one gets damaged (usually burnt 🤭) I just make another fresh one - they're so good! xx

I loved listening to your chat as I continue knitting my hubby's fingering weight sweater with a lunchtime break. I would love to hear a review on the cubics (?spelling) as I just ordered a set of Kollage circulars (Canadian company) to see if it helps reduce some of my knitting pains. Many thanks and take care watching the neighbourhood goings-on.

Thanks so much, Ali. I LOVE the triangular wrap behind you on the sofa. I tried to crochet it but I just couldn't get it started properly for some reason. Currently working on the colourwash version of the Attic 24 Sungold blanket. Looking forward to seeing how the wrap for your Mum turns out with all that gorgeous yarn. x

How very inventive of you. The cushion is great and I’m stealing your brilliant idea on sewing it up. 😁thanks. A lot of my misspent youth was spent in Preston in the 60s. 😏🤭. I did have relatives there. Haven’t been back since the 80s as we now live in Devon. You must knit something very warm with your new wool cos it’s a lot colder up there.🥶.a big cosy shawl? 🌻. Edited to say. I forgot to tell you I’m drinking Yorkshire tea with toast. My daughter in law introduced me to it. Yummy.

Love the present you want to make for your mum. Absolutely adore the colours of the skein you had gifted from Julie in Preston. Unfortunately I don't have any pattern suggestions except send it to me lol! My daughter lives near Preston and I will be going to visit at the end of next month. We will be doing some crafting whilst I'm there and going to a book launch for Lisa Jewell. 😊

I just had to stop the podcast when you said you were knitting on your Drippity Drop socks because as I'm watching I'm knitting on a pair for my daughter. You're right, it's such a fun pattern. This is the second time I've knit a pair and I'm sure it won't be the last. Now I'm going to go back to your wonderful podcast. It's always such a pleasure to watch and I look forward to each episode. Thank you for sharing your time with us.

I love watching your videos. It really is like we are sitting in the same room, getting side tracked by what's going on outside 😂 I have been working on a new sock cast on whilst watching and I have completed the cuff of the first sock and cast on the second. I'm knitting them concurrently. It's my favourite way to knit socks since trying it out over Christmas. I'd seen lots of people saying they were knitting socks concurrently and had an attack of "fomo" so I had to give it a go and quite clearly I have been missing out because it's my preferred way to knit socks now! I'm not a fan of splitting the yarn into 2 balls though 😩🤔 see you next time ❤

Ah thanks Julie! Yes I agree it can be a pain to split the yarn...and sometimes I forget and find myself with one big cake of yarn and have to know one at a time 😅 But knitting concurrently is my favourite too :) xx

Learned a lot today including what a cockerel is in the comments! You were right - I can get the hang of dpns. Started with 5 but down to 4 with one lost to deep in the couch innards! Hi Ali! Brillant podcast as always 😊 I was thinking about your mums birthday gift, if you are really pushed for time and can't manage to make the shawl yourself, what about if you made/baught her a new project bag and popped the yarn and pattern inside the bag so she can make it herself. Just an idea 😊 looking forward to your next video on either channel ❤

Such a lovely podcast Ali. I too have connections to Preston I have family that still live there and also lived there myself for a few good years. Not the city it used to be though as many places no longer are. The yarn is lovely is it from a yarn shop/dyer from Preston? Maybe a cowl and fingerless gloves would be nice for your walks or socks of course. Preston Uni is a very good one though and in particular their performing arts I have seen many a performance there. Take care xx💕💕

Such a lovely! episode. I was working on my granny stripe blanket whilst watching with a Starbucks White Mocha coffee (a powdered packet one - not shop bought). Got a taste for them when I came home from hospital as I couldn’t face “ordinary” coffee. Expensive though at £3.59 so got loads when they were on offer for £1.99 with Sainsburys. As if you really need to know that! Loved the chicken frame bag too but really cannot justify getting another project bag. By the way - it’s all your fault - I bought a Wild Valentine’s Deodorant and used your offer code so hopefully it will help your TLWL channel. The pretty case just sucked me in. That was lovely that you met up with a Strictly sock winner in Preston. Good luck to Lilia with her auditions. Lesley x
