And for 71K before the tax credit, it's WAY nicer than the all new 5 series base gas or electric models. EQE is ugly and just meh. The G80 electric is quite good but it's not built on a dedicated EV platform so it lacks in range and interior space. Model S is pretty solid. Taycan is overpriced.
@notfunny33977 күн бұрын
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 as far as I'm aware, the lucid air doesn't qualify for the federal tax credit (because someone decided that sedans are less environmentally friendly or something smh) It's under 55k for cars and 80k for SUVs iirc. That said, I'm not too sure I agree with your choices with the competition, none of these cars are performance cars, and as far as base model luxury is concerned, the electric 5 series and eqe are just better because of all their experience with suspension tuning and build quality. The g80 is a closer fit to the lucid air for luxury, it's honestly personal preference based on how it looks imo. The model S is very very outdated at this point, and the updates and facelifts somehow only seem to remove features, yeah it looks cleaner, but at what cost, and Teslas faux leather just isn't holding up well unfortunately. As someone who isn't the biggest fan of real leather anyway, I'm pretty disappointed. According to a lot of reviewers, the lucid air somehow has the best handling, and iirc is the only vehicle of its class with a hydraulic brake pedal. The taycan starts at a significantly higher price point.
@1Boy2Man17 күн бұрын
What are heatpump and dream drive premium?
@notfunny33976 күн бұрын
@@1Boy2Man1 a heat pump is basically what you have in a fridge or high end efficient heater. It can basically heat or cool a room or cabin or in this case, a battery very efficiently. A regular resistance heater is already efficient, theoretically it will convert 1 Wh of electricity to 1 Wh of heat, so 100% efficiency. But a heat pump can theoretically do up to 300% to 500% efficiency. This matters a lot to electric vehicles as they lose a lot of range in the cold due to a multitude of reasons, partly just because of heating the passenger compartment and partly because batteries don't like the cold, batteries also have to charge slower in the cold. Using a heat pump instead of a resistance heater therefore increases range, charging speed and also potentially battery longevity. Dreamdrive is just what lucid calls their driver assistance tech, like Teslas fsd or GMs supercruise. Iirc there's dreamdrive standard, dreamdrive premium and dreamdrive pro. Dreamdrive premium adds cameras and 360 view and most of the cool features that are necessary. Iirc dreamdrive pro just adds LiDAR which I'm not even sure is in use yet.

I am also glad to see the Cadillac sedans on this list. I think GM really needs to make Cadillac a top luxury brand once again to compete with the Germans because they are the only American brand that can do so but they went backwards. They needs to make all of their line up innovative yet more affordable. No one is going to spend Porsche money for Honda options. If Cadillac can reinvent themselves as America’s luxury, premium and affordable brand, they can give the German’s a run for their money. And of course, Tesla is Tesla. The only reason the official channel of the greatest automotive magazine has only "370" likes and "48 comments" - that I can think of - is the fact that Hearst randomly exited from certain markets... Probably due to cost cutting. I subscribed to both C&D and R&T here in Riga, Latvia, for years - and then they just suddenly stopped coming. Located the customer number (printed on the insert on each magazine... before they disappeared) and contacted Hearst with it with zero success. EIther way - costcutting LITERALLY aside - and what an irony it is - that America, having invented, pioneered and enjoyed the automatic transmissions - NOW IS THE ONLY COUNTRY that makes sports sedans with the correct (ie, manual) transmission type. Long gone are the times when an M5 or RS6 could be had with a stick. Weirdly - even the Mark8 Golf R... coming straight from Wolfsburg in a small non-descript EU country (NO!! CENTRAL TOTALLY DESCRIPT EU COUNTRY!) has a manual transmission only in the US... I did some stupid thought experiments (Einstein is believed to have done them as well.. So I must be right) - and came to an interesting conclusion. We've (well... automotive sector based on so-called "green" legislation) - we've invented tens, maybe hundreds of systems of fuel and emissions reduction through the decades. Gretha is still unhappy. But automatic transmissions - quickly and universally taking the planet over - are both heavier, more inefficient, take more resources to produce and repair. SO WHY, I ask... WHY... Maybe if we all learned how to drive, forgot about imagined comfort and turned back to proper manuals - GRETHA would at last be happy - and we wouldn't have to use additional nickel, cadmium, lithium and other clever words in the process. Just my two... sorry, six (speed) cents. Great success -- for the video - from the small Latvia.

As far as the Tungsten Ram, it’s very nice if you want a car with a massive open trunk. But, if you want what most people who buy trucks want out of a truck: towing and payload, you’ll be sorely disappointed. The payload will only be around 1000 lbs because it’s loaded with all sorts of luxury goodies that have nothing to do with what makes a truck so useful. And that means if you load a 1/2 ton into this truck, like its classification says it supposed to be able to handle, you won’t be able to have any passengers. What is a vehicle comparison without including mention about 10-year cost of ownership that includes historical model reliability? Example: Almost ANY GM vehicle. Corvettes have experienced many transmission and other types of failures. I have test-driven many cars, yet will not buy any without at least multiple months of monitoring one or two forums to see what current owners are saying. I also review Consumer Reports magazine's vehicle reliability ratings. If you love that Alfa Romeo and don't care about resale value or long-term reliability, then do yourself a favor by leasing it or selling it before the warranty runs out.

At the beginning of the Video they said these cars are chosen at a price point. What is that price point? A Civic, ID BUZZ, Porsche, Telluride, and Lucid Air sharing the same awards.

How can you pick Lucid Air, a car where the vast majority report all of these build and reliability issues.

Love the video but anyone notice the weird sound isolation in the voices? It's odd not to hear the road noise level as the driver explains their impressions.

This is not true. I have owned, and own some of the sporty marques on this list. Drive them hard. Nothing beyond consumables and regular maintenance.

Exactly ! This video is NOT for 90% of working people who need to worry about a vehicle that will last and not break down yearly. Longevity without breaking down is the majority of peoples concern , due to this insane economy !!!
