I was watching you tube videos of the late Mr. Butch of Kenmoore Square in Boston and this song came to me like I'd heard it yesterday-I'd forgotten it since 78-SMOOTHE!!!

I remember liking this song but never really caught the lyrics. I read on Wikipedia that it's based on a story about a member of the Moody Blues on holiday in Jamaica. I love the end of the song when he's back at the pool and an island beauty gets him hard, high and laid in short order, so the song has a happy ending, after the earlier "Stranger in a Strange Land" episode. I don't know of any other song with the lyrics "don't you queer me pitch". Gotta love it. There's several versions here.

Graham is playing a Fender 6 string Bass. I know ,cause I had one in 1974.Fact !!

I was noticing the same thing, but after watching his hands, it appears that the lead singer, Graham Gouldman, is playing the base. There are definitely 6 strings, but in all other videos he is the bassist.

I am not saying that he is actually playing the bass in this video, since it's obviously a lip sync job, but he is fingering the strings as if he were playing the bass. If you watch other videos, especially the live ones, he's the bassist. I am in 100% agreement with you, that IS NOT a bass guitar!

No he is not, it's not a bassguitar, I should know, I've been playing guitar for 20+ years. In this video he is playing a regular guitar. I'm 200 percent sure.
