This song came out right before my HS boyfriend dumped me for somebody who was popular but wasn't at all his type. I was definitely his type, but not popular. I've always associated this song with him. Oh, don't worry, after a couple of years I decided that if he did it then, it would only have been a matter of time before he did it anyway. Thirty years later, I got a flower delivery with an unsigned card. Through the years, I received some other mysterious things in the mail, like a packet of seeds of my favorite flower (phlox), and decades of phone calls with hang up. All the while, he was still married to the same woman. I sent a certified letter telling him to leave me alone or he'd be in court with a restraining order. Two years later, he writes a letter, not mentioning anything in my certified letter, and saying I had never forgiven him. He got dead air. Five years later, I moved back to the house I grew up in after my father died, and started driving a school bus. He was shadowing me at my stops, and was actually waiting for me in the employee parking lot at 5:00 one morning. I never spoke to him and turned my head when he would drive by trying to look at me. My friends didn't understand why I didn't tell his wife, but I was not going to be his excuse for divorce. They both got what they wanted. LOL. The house was then worth a mint, so I sold it, bought a small house out of state and one for each of my sons and invested the bankroll. Very happy.

There is SMOKE coming out of my ears right now trying to think which song is better... We Had MOTOWN, we had the awesome SOUTHERN ROCK, we had Great bands from Canada, we had the West Coast, the East coast.... Not to mention the UK... :-)

@@scottallison2296 Michael Valenti 6 months ago I'm 44, grew up with 1980's music and really liked 1980's music unlike the music of last 25 years , slightly more. 1980's music was the best! Real meaning, lyrics were were understood, meaningful, music artists in their music spoke of life difficulties, relationships, relationship problems, friendship, etc quality and real music.Instruments were played, not synthesized music Today's music is rated(i feel) at much reduced quality! I will be 45 ( Dec 2020) and I still listen to cars, benjamin orr, journey, foreigner, eagles, loverboy, night ranger, fleetwood mac and other 80's bands.Great voice and music! MR. Mister(Tom Page),Thank you for great music(Broken wings, Kyrie) and Lyrics. At age 43, 2019 I am still listening to Mr.Mister and other bands listed above and most likely be listening to age 90-100. Die hard 1980's music fan! I am 100% with all the other 1980's music fans( comments here) or other bands. 1980's music was the best

The song was written for Eric Stewart's wife. It was love at first sight when they met he was 19 she was 16. They married two years later. After about 9 years into the marriage she asked him why he never told her he loved her anymore...he replied that saying it all the time takes the meaning away. So, he decided to write her a love song. First he started writing about how much he loved her, missed her on tour, had her picture with him and how much he "pined" for her. He thought those words weren't right. So he got together with his band and they came up with I'm Not In Love. When he played it for her she loved it but asked him would he tell her he loved her more often? That was 53 years ago, they are still married and tell each other every day they love each other. He gave an interview with The Daily News and tells the story...it's a lovely love story.

This was so incredibly creative and soothing and still is…if floating through soft, gently sunlit clouds had a soundtrack, it’s this. I remember being a small child in my mom’s Plymouth Duster and she’d leave the radio on…the sun would be coming through the window and I’d feel its warmth…when this song was playing, that combo was so incredibly comforting.

Richard retey, it's not a sweet message if u listen to the words he's telling his lover to hit the road, hee hee. But, it's a beautiful song. He also tells that person don't tell your friends about the 2 of us and im not alone means, i am with someone, and he states he is not in love with this person to this person. Its a beautifully rude song. Great tune.

Lyrics I'm not in love So don't forget it It's just a silly phase I'm going through And just because I call you up Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made I'm not in love, no no, it's because I like to see you But then again That doesn't mean you mean that much to me So if I call you Don't make a fuss Don't tell your friends about the two of us I'm not in love, no no, it's because I keep your picture Upon the wall It hides a nasty stain that's lying there So don't you ask me To give it back I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me I'm not in love, no no, it's because Ooh you'll wait a long time for me Ooh you'll wait a long time Ooh you'll wait a long time for me Ooh you'll wait a long time I'm not in love So don't forget it It's just a silly phase I'm going through And just because I call you up Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made I'm not in love I'm not in love Songwriters: Eric Stewart, Graham Gouldman © SCHUBERT MUSIC PUBLISHING INC. This song came out late 1974 early 1975, while I was a United States Marine on Okinawa. I had a cute girl friend back in the States. After a few months on Okinawa she mailed me the dreaded "Dear John Letter" and said she would not wait 13 months for me while I was overseas. I wrote back and said, I'm not in love, so don't forget it." But deep down I still loved her. Being a 19 year hard corps Marine I still had a very soft heart. I remember one night crying into my pillow so no one would hear me in the Squad Bay (barracks). I finally got over her, then fell in love several more times. But Ive been happily married for 39 years.
