This song came out right before my HS boyfriend dumped me for somebody who was popular but wasn't at all his type. I was definitely his type, but not popular. I've always associated this song with him. Oh, don't worry, after a couple of years I decided that if he did it then, it would only have been a matter of time before he did it anyway. Thirty years later, I got a flower delivery with an unsigned card. Through the years, I received some other mysterious things in the mail, like a packet of seeds of my favorite flower (phlox), and decades of phone calls with hang up. All the while, he was still married to the same woman. I sent a certified letter telling him to leave me alone or he'd be in court with a restraining order. Two years later, he writes a letter, not mentioning anything in my certified letter, and saying I had never forgiven him. He got dead air. Five years later, I moved back to the house I grew up in after my father died, and started driving a school bus. He was shadowing me at my stops, and was actually waiting for me in the employee parking lot at 5:00 one morning. I never spoke to him and turned my head when he would drive by trying to look at me. My friends didn't understand why I didn't tell his wife, but I was not going to be his excuse for divorce. They both got what they wanted. LOL. The house was then worth a mint, so I sold it, bought a small house out of state and one for each of my sons and invested the bankroll. Very happy.

The song was written for Eric Stewart's wife. It was love at first sight when they met he was 19 she was 16. They married two years later. After about 9 years into the marriage she asked him why he never told her he loved her anymore...he replied that saying it all the time takes the meaning away. So, he decided to write her a love song. First he started writing about how much he loved her, missed her on tour, had her picture with him and how much he "pined" for her. He thought those words weren't right. So he got together with his band and they came up with I'm Not In Love. When he played it for her she loved it but asked him would he tell her he loved her more often? That was 53 years ago, they are still married and tell each other every day they love each other. He gave an interview with The Daily News and tells the story...it's a lovely love story.

This was so incredibly creative and soothing and still is…if floating through soft, gently sunlit clouds had a soundtrack, it’s this. I remember being a small child in my mom’s Plymouth Duster and she’d leave the radio on…the sun would be coming through the window and I’d feel its warmth…when this song was playing, that combo was so incredibly comforting.

One of most forgetful songs ever played until it's played ....then it becomes one of the most memorable songs that puts you right back in that moment to moments you really loved that person that meant so much to you. But I’m not a sissy and I believe in our lord and wish people would wake up to realize we are allll brother’s and sisters! I’m white your a black lady but in reality we are both children of God so hello my sister and have a nice and happy day! God bless from Daytona Beach, Florida.

This song came out late 1974 early 1975, while I was a United States Marine on Okinawa. I had a cute girl friend back in the States. After a few months on Okinawa she mailed me the dreaded "Dear John Letter" and said she would not wait 13 months for me while I was overseas. I wrote back and said, I'm not in love, so don't forget it." But deep down I still loved her. Being a 19 year hard corps Marine I still had a very soft heart. I remember one night crying into my pillow so no one would hear me in the Squad Bay (barracks). I finally got over her, then fell in love several more times. But Ive been happily married for 39 years.
