Hofmann would had been a better choice for the Bernstein recording instead of Carreras who sounded Latino and less smooth.

I agree Hoffman and Jerry Hadley were Berstein favourite choices for the recording but Peter couldnt do it at the time and Hadley wasnt a star yet and Carreras was cast.Later Hoffman and his wife Deborah Sasson recorded West Side Story conducted by Michael Tylson Thomas.

A much better pop singer than Heldentenor. Surprisingly good english. He even gets the uvular, americanized "L" correct.
