It's been around for decades and continues to be a profitable way to make money online because it can be done in any way that you can imagine. That means you can put your own spin on it and make it your own. Plus the video game niche is only growing in popularity and will continue to do so with the improvement of tech and AI so there's lots of room for growth.

I actually have created videos on side hustles that you can start without any money at first. But if you really want your side hustle to turn into a real online business you will need to at some point invest into your business, even if it's just a little bit at first. But it's completely ok to start out with the free methods first. 😊

Affiliate marketing has made me over 7 figures in the last few years so I don't share your opinion on this, but you're free to think what you like. As someone who's currently doing affiliate marketing in 2024 and will continue doing affiliate marketing in 2025, I can 100% say from my experience affiliate marketing is not "so 90's" and it is actually very lucrative. The problems is most people don't do it correctly or they give up too quickly when things don't work out as they expected, and this is why they don't think it "works". I share everything for free on my channel, and on my social media accounts, but you or anyone else watching still has to do the work on their end to make it "work" for them.
