This is my PB snapper. Unfortunately didn't pick up the splatter on the screen and light rain started falling before the end of the day. I have been using the new Daiwa rod and reel set for a couple of months, which is now my favourite go to rod. Supper confident to bring in large snapper or fighting any large fish for the maximum line strength of 20lb on this set up. Love the light rod for predominately snapper fishing and feeling everything from the take to loading up on the weight of the fish. Anything heavier you may as well winch them in!
Another awesome day before the start of the spring season here in the Bay of Islands.
It has been awhile as I like to post a video every week. However unexpected damage and repairs on my computer took a while.
I hope this long video will have you intrigued to see what the big fish is after the approximate 10kg snapper.

Those reels punch above their weight. Very smooth and durable

Greetings from Northern North America. I just ordered way late 2019 certate 3000 lol 1 month ago , can you advise me if use on Overthere 911 rod or Crostage 90 surf..? OR do you recommend a 70 feet 1 piece Rebellion ? 🤔 Thanks anyway

Hi, I can not advise you on your North American rods as they are not similar to our New Zealand models and we do not stock them. The rid however will depend on what weight of rig you are casting. For me, as I use less than half an ounce, and get the longest lightest rod with a fast action. If you use a heavier rig you may need a rod that will be shorter and slightly heavier. Cheers, David

Hi Andy, Its a 3kg - 6kg. Strong rod. Perfect for most common snapper and strong enough for the big ones. Generally too light for Small Kingfish, even though this one was oversize.

Sorry Andy, The rod would be rated about 6.5lb to 13lb.

Hi Andy, the fish did go under and went down to the bottom I was only fishing in 6 meters of water. I would not release a fish that would not be able to survive. Agree better to take the fish home. Cheers, Dave
