The pier looks really good, sure looks like you might have scared people off, as it looked like a 1970 uk city centre. Thanks for the video Pete.

Hi Pete. I may be biased but I like the pier as it is. As for fishing , your only allowed to drop line over edge, no casting allowed . Maybe if surfers could stay at least a decent safe distance from it , fishing would be better. Surf free zone of 200 yards be ideal. Give and take needed on both sides mate.

Hi yea l also love the pier but i think it needs to be pushed more as an attraction in chch.

Great video! I just stumbled upon your channel, and I'm pleasantly surprised. It's unusual not to spot any fishermen at the pier; typically, there's a bustling crowd when the weather's nice. Hey, I've got an intriguing suggestion for your upcoming videos, my friend. How about exploring Kairaki Beach/Waimakariri River? Right now, it's Kahawai season, so you'll find plenty of folks fishing there. If you're fortunate, you might catch a day when everyone's reeling in fish. Although, on good fishing days, you might also come across some fish flopping around on the beach, but no worries. Anyways, keep up the fantastic work, gramps! 🎣🌊📹

Thanks for stumbling upon my channel! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It is indeed unusual not to see any fishermen at the pier, but sometimes you get lucky with a quiet day. I'll definitely consider your suggestion for my upcoming videos. Stay tuned!

It sure is a beautiful area. I wonder if the visitors will pick up as the weather warms. But for some places here in Halifax, when a new and modern structure has been built to replace an older one, the visits seem to fall off as the place lost its historic feel. Bruce and Otis

Visit the Pier on the right day especially in spring/summer and you'll find it likely overrun by every man and his dog. It's very popular and well used. As for the the shopping centre, it was in it's heyday until the shop trading hours were amended to allow 7 day opening everywhere and it lost it's advantage of being the only place open to shop in Christchurch on Saturdays. It's demise began slowly but surely with the closure of all the major retailers and the earthquake damage has made it unlikely to ever be restored to what it once was.

I remember it when it was the only place open on the weekend.

When I was made to go there I was just pissed I was being made to walk down an endless seeming road to nothing by my mum. Totally understand why it’s dead
