Hi guys! Hope you are all well. Jim, I would just like send you big hugs from sunny Florida, and thank you for making this beautiful video. I want to take a moment and let players here know a few things, that are very important. I designed these different models in different categories, to do certain things and to be very different from one another. From warmer to punchier with more brightness available: THE CLASSIC, ROBUSTO, SHOWTIME, BLACK WIDOW. These choices should cover everybody who loves HR tenor pieces and is looking for the right fit for themselves. One thing that is very common, is that when one player shows the different models, you will inevitably hear which model fits that person the best, very easily. I think we all agree that Jim sounds so comfortable and at his finest on the Showtime, as that fits his style and approach the best. Of course he sounds great on everything he plays, because he's a great player, but that one model stands out because thats the right fit for his approach. For me, being an old school straight ahead player, The Classic is very warm and even blowing, and ai live it, but The Robusto I designed to fit ME the best because it offers me more of that Gene Ammons warm, full, and punchy vibe with some edge that I lean towards. The Showtime is also great for me because it has more freedom in the blow and even more punch and brilliance available...so it just depends on my mood, which one I want to play on any given day. They both fit my approach beautifully. The Black Widow for me is a bit too powerful and bright and punchy for my personal approach, but thats what I designed that piece to do, for all you guys that want that. Jim would enjoy that model, for sure. If I did a recording on the BW, it wouldn't show what that piece is really capable of, because I'm not that type of player. Of course any player can get any model to play, but it’s all about picking the right model for yourself. I think all of this is very important to keep in mind, and thats why I hope sax.co.uk will get in a bunch of the Generation ll pieces for you guys to check out there and see what best suits your approach. Here are very good examples of what I was going for with the different models, as an example for you to see where I was coming from: ZOLTAN SAGI ON THE CLASSIC: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJvNp3-sfdt6q8k TONY LAKATOS ON THE ROBUTO: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2TOnKiZjcmqd7M JIM CHEEK ON THE SHOWTIME You just heard Jim, and thats a great example of what that mpc was designed to do. GREG HAWKINS ON THE BLACK WIDOW: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGGTiHedr9Wcj80 I am so grateful to have this world-class saxophone shop carrying my mouthpieces, and I encourage all of you to go there and check out these different models, to get the right fit for what you are looking for, with your approach. If any of you would like to contact me with questions, I am always happy to answer them. My email is: connsaxman@comcast.net All the best, Mark 10mfan

I got a Black Widow 7** about a month ago and absolutely loving it. I haven’t tried the others, but I think it’s kind of Showtime on steroids. It’s in Ultem, which also looks very cool. Matched with a Silverstein lig and Rigotti Jazz reeds. For me, perfect.

Have been looking for a quality comparison video like this for some time with the 10mfan mouthpieces. Clear differences between the models. Thanks for uploading, more pls!

2020 will be the year. Hang in there with me. :) 2 HR sopranos and all 4 of my metal tenor mpcs too. Also I will have a super window metal coming out which will be a bright and free blowing missile!

A Black Widow/Showtime comparison would be awesome. I play a BW 8 (Gen I) and it's fantastic.

I wasn't too interested in the first two mouthpieces, tI found with your playing, the Classic was a bit thinner in the highs and a bit mellower than the others and the Robusto was a bit bright and edgy for my tastes, but when you played those first few notes with the Showtime, I was liking it straight away. It has what you said, its warm with some brightness when pushed and you could play many styles with it. I'm not a tenor sax player, but if I was, the Showtime would be a mouthpiece I'd seriously consider getting.

I believe the showtime is supposed to be a bit brighter than the rubusto, but has more core to it when the robusto is more spread. I don't know if I'm alone in feeling like Jim was playing the robusto in a brighter style compared with the showtime. Both robusto and showtime sounded very good to me though!

Jim...I know you like the Merlot, how does the Classic and Showtime compare to that? Will you be reviewing the Ultex pieces?

Great demo! Obviously, you have a tremendous sax sound! Out of interest, what was the strength of your reed on this video?

With the new video room you get the sense Sax.co.uk are the nerdy equivalent of the Andertons crew. Difference between guitar and saxophone players. 😅
