12:22 is a great example of a good time to use life cocoon too. Since it’ll put both hots on them in one global and also the CD is so short. Usually it doesn’t last long on tanks. But it’s just enough time to get your feet planted and pump them with vivify spam. And if you know your dps isn’t gonna get owned it’s a really good use of the CD. You’re nearly guaranteed to get the full healing out of it.

I’m in the same boat, but still deciding between Mistweaver and Resto Shaman. I want a healer that’s effective in raids as well as M+, and druid is just not there right now. I’d love to learn more about mistweaver in raids. Especially if Jadefire is not going to be used for raid builds. Thanks for the excellent video; it makes the healing rotation very clear without overwhelming me with the intricacies of the spec. That stuff comes with time playing, and is great to pick up after mastering the basics. I just subbed.

I took the info into dungeons for leveling…the tank was pulling all the mobs in between bosses and the spec worked like a charm! Trial by fire by only a couple of deaths over the course of lvls 76 to 80!

I’ve heard that two Tiger Palm then a blackout kick is more effective. What is your logic for the rotation only using one?

If you have your ancient teachings buff running, 1 tiger palm will give you 2 stacks of Teachings of the monastery, so technically, 2 tiger palms will give you the 4 stacks of Teachings of the monastery. If you are not then you do have to tiger palm 4 times, but there's no reason not to have your ancient teachings running, so you should mostly only do tiger palm, tiger palm, black out, and so on

Hey hey, you build differs from recommended fistweave build on wowhead, mostly because you are using soothing mist and others are not, any justification for this for M+?

You can get away without soothing mist by just casting vivifies around when needed, but in my opinion it's a tool that does have a use-case and is practically free to take on the talent tree. As dungeons get harder and key levels get higher, if you realize you haven't even been needing it then it's 100% okay to hop off of it.

@@LBNinja7 thanks, i guess MW monk struggles when there is no enemy to fight close to you and you are not on your jadefire path, so if tank is further away you dont have a lot of tools to top him off, so soothing mist might help as a ranged heal, makes sense :)

Great video for a newbie healer! I just have one question what I can’t get the grill of while the tank pulls the mobs together I don’t want to stomp as they will pull the mobs out of it anyway but how should I heal them in this phase without the stomp? Thank you for any answers:)

When do you think is most effective to pop the Thunder Focus Tea? Can't remember if you mentioned it.

You use it most often on rising sun kick to cycle two in quick succession, but you can also use it on envm in a pinch for spot healing or expel harm to self shield if you need to

1 point in Resplendant mists is still a warcrime. There are SOOO many other talents that provide far more HPS or DPS.

Secret infusion is still a very solid talent especially since you can get more tft's thanks to the hero talent tree, so you could easily swap that talent out if you don't find much value from resplendent!

Is there any build focusing mainly on soothing mist and Serpent statue that is viable in War Within? I came back after a long time and I loved MW monk with soothing mist healing therefore I would like to continue playing it, however, I dont know of any specific build for it or just dont want to get gatekept by playing it if its bad in any way at this point. Any idea for M+ build with soothing mist? They really do try and take the spec in a direction where these builds just don't perform as well by not giving them any damage options and things like that. Also these kinds of builds don't really gain any benefits in m+ environments like fistweaving does like scaling off of the number of targets you're hitting. However, you could always take whatever build you like into keys and push them to their own limits and have a great time! But in terms of viability of pushing content as high as the other build, I would say no since it likely falls off pretty hard in high keys due to it not scaling as well into an m+ environment, if that makes sense lol!

The wowhead talent builds for mistweaver don't take soothing mist, and I'm absolutely dumbfounded. Edit: icyveins has 3 mistweaver builds, and their mythic+ build also doesn't take soothing mist. I would've thought it would be quite useful to throw out instant emergency heals.

I believe that’s because instant cast emergency spot heals are taken care of by the talent Vivacious Vivification.

I wouldn’t say it’s bad, but in my+ we play around the healing from sheiluns more than we would the buffs from shaohaos. Having sheiluns charge half as fast just hurts a lot more than you’d think.

Yeah….I’m also a little confused. Everyone was up in arms about month ago regarding tank “nerfs”. Tanks hardly got a nerf in reality. In fact they all seem to be functioning the same lol, pulling packs only they can survive is still happening. The typical offenders are still self healing for an insane amount. I think they should get another nerf personally. I realllllly dislike healing a tank who doesn’t respect my cooldowns. It’s just pull the whole room and hope I can keep up mentality that make it stressful for me to enjoy my play time as a healer main. I guess I have to leave tanks at half hp for a lot longer to slow them down, the moment you top their health bar they start going Leeroy Jenkins all over again.

For instance last night I saw one level 73 VDH rush down to the Voidstone Monstrosity trash in the new Rookery dungeon and he pulled the entire room. One by one the dps died until it was just myself and the tank. Eventually I died but he lived somehow. We ran back and he was still fighting the packs by himself. To be honest I’m fairly positive he was using a rotation bot. He was leading in dps the entire time and after I died, he self healed for over 10 million on that massive pull…either way…it doesn’t feel like they were nerfed at all!

Damn thanks for this! I started a Mistweaver last night, but I’m still just lvl 15 or so, and a lot of this hasn’t come “online” yet, and I was confused at all the guides pretty much leaving out the soothing mist->vivify healing that I’ve been doing. This guide really makes the playstyle make sense, I can’t wait to get all these abilities that allow me to heal by punching and kicking!
