Thanks, you’ve convinced me that I don’t need a Cub. 😀

I've never been a fan of, or had any luck with battery less ignitions. I'd turn that into a battery ignition system and be done with it. Also, and this is just a pet peeve of mine, why do people always want to pump the ticklers? It doesn't help, just hold it down till fuel flows. In my experience, monoblocs run better than concentrics, I don't see that as the problem.

Hi Rob, I prefer to bounce on the tickler because it lets me "feel" and hear the float hitting the tickler as it rises with the fuel level. It's just a personal idiosyncrasy I've been doing for 66 years since I got my first bike at age 15. Now Kevin has picked up the style. Maybe he can be still be saved but I think I'm a lost cause. Ride On! Ride Safe! And please keep watching as I enjoy and appreciate your comments. Frank PS: I've never been a fan of no-battery systems either. They won't support a horn and they tend to stall at stop lights.

@@fjdelmonte I agree with not pumping method, been doing it for 61 years in the UK.

Could be a worn needle jet or needle causing excessively rich mixture. That would be consistent with the running getting worse as it warms up.

Maybe check the fuel filter in the banjo fitting on the inlet to the carb? Could be blocking up. You have good flow of fuel from the tank but the float bowl is slow to over fill when tickling.

Since starter fluid and having a wet plug didn't give any joy, my bet is this is not carb or fueling related. Timing (spark advance and or valve open/close) being out more likely. This is reminiscent of the problem Norton you guys struggled with a few months ago. Any chance the EI stator wires are swapped like they were on the Norton? That would put the timing 180 deg out. Also, EI's are fussy about the voltage they are getting. PODtronics Reg/Recs have a model with a build in capacitor to store up a little charge to aid with low or no battery ignition.

I have a 4 wheller that started hard turned out be spark plug wouldn't fire under compression the plug only had 40 miles on it.

Good guess. But we tried two plugs. Keep watching. This will turn out to be a really complicated fix, or a really easy one. Dunno which yet.

Are you sure the fuel cap is venting properly?
@fjdelmonte2 күн бұрын
Yeah, we even left it loose a couple of times.

Perhaps the addition of a choke would help?

Would an Iridium plug give a stronger spark with a non battery system. I have no experience as I've always run batteries.

Tickle the carb already!!! Balance and set the carb mixture screw out 1.5 turns from bottom

How frustrating that was for you. I’m sure the next episode will provide the solution. Hopefully.🤔

What model cubs are they and what ignition timing degrees do you use when you set the ignition timing?

Gas fires are no joke guys! Ask me how I know. Had VW's catch fire twice in the 60's- once a van heater under the driver seat blew up under me...I can see why God put fire in Hell. Thankfully Christ covers me from there! Had a 75 T500 suzie 2 stroke event as well :)

The best invention for both cars and bikes over the past 30 years is fuel injection. Carbs are a pain in the leg😂

Painful to watch, if you close throttle as you change gear she's sucking air back in, gasket on carbs or exhaust. Monobloc carbs are better than concentric. I've velo MAC, SO BEEN THERE done that. Your learn 😂😂😂
