11-15-23 NEFL Bald eagles; Gabby and V3, stuck sticks, missed matings, lots of nest work.

Gabby and V3 have been together since his return yesterday. They came in together late last night, and this morning they start a long morning of nestorations. Gabby goes to the nest early for some aerating, bowl kicks and nest checks. Then she goes to the sunset branch for a while, and we can see V3 on one of the lower branches. About an hour later they both go to the nest for some nest work and some observation time. At one point it seems like they might mate, but, nope. After that V3 goes to the lookout branch and Gabby stays on the nest a bit longer and then leaves. V3 watches and leaves too. Shortly after that Gabby flies in through the "V" with a big branch, and it gets stuck, throwing her off balance. She tries and tries to get it through and onto the nest, while V3 watches from a safe distance on the Wallenda branch. After a while V3 joins Gabby on the nest and they work the nest together. After working the nest, some beaking and down time, it seems like V3 might've been trying to initiate mating, and I think she might've even given him the foot! (Like Harriet on SWFL used to do with M15 when she wanted to mate). It wasn't as, insistent, as Harriet used to do, but maybe Gabby's figuring out this new move on V3. And, maybe V3 didn't get the signal, because he backed off, and went back to work on the rails. They both go back to work, and beaking. Then V3 makes an interesting move, flying up to the sunset branch, and then floating back down backwards to the nest. After that he poofs out (because of the camera skips today). Gabby tries out the nest and we see V3 is keeping watch from a higher branch. After a while Gabby flies out, and V3 must've gone too because he returns with a stick. After getting it placed he lies down in the nest, and Gabby arrives with what I think is a clump of fluff. Time for more nest work, and then V3 goes to the sunset branch while Gabby works the stuck stick in the "V." V3 then flies around and enters the nest through the "V" for some more work on the nest. Then I think V3 makes another mating attempt, but backs down again after Gabby's beaking. Gabby does a quick nest bowl kick as V3 watches, then they go to work on moving more sticks around. V3 does a nest check and then flies to the lookout branch while Gabby tidies up. Then Gabby flies out and V3 follows her off.

Cracked me up when Gabby came in flying with her stick! 😆V3 probably thought, 'outta all the open spaces, she instead chooses the V to bring her stick through and it gets stuck! That's my Lady'! These two will make adorable parents, hopefully this season! They'll be ready when they are. TTE! Thanx Nighteagle for sharing an awesome video of our Hamlet pair!
