When I was first saved I learned many things about prayer. Come to find out, they were all wrong.

I've been listening to one sermon every day for 3.5 years since I got saved and by now I've heard many from this pulpit but this is one of the best sermons I've ever heard! It's meaty enough for a mature saint but it covers enough ground for someone new to rightly dividing or even Christianity altogether! So grateful for you pastor Rodney! Thanks so much!

We all have been. 2nd best thing I've ever done was leave the church I was attending. First best thing I've ever done was believing Christ died for me, was buried and rose again on the third day. Haven't been back in 18 years.

Prayer is powerful and I don’t care what you say I am going to continue thanking God for the food He has provided me and ask him to bless it because if it is blessed of God it will not make you sick. Rightly dividing is one thing but I see this message on prayer as very destructive

Thank you Rodney for another wonderful lesson from God's word on prayer.I notice the more I listen to your sermons even when I think you may be wrong I always discover you are right because its always from God's word you are teaching us from by rightly dividing it. ? First he says rightly divide. Then he uses examples from Ezekiel and the Gospel of Matthew in favor/support of his views. But intermittently says those books are not for the gentiles. Picking and choosing. I love to hear his sermons but this is not consistent theology and doesn’t make sense.

Since all of the Bible is for us (but not all is to or about us), the way to see it is that anything that doesn't contradict the Pauline epistles we christians can apply. This is why Proverbs for example is so useful.

I think that is very contradictory to what he does advocate for which is rightly dividing the Word. Paul says to pray for food before eating. Now he is quoting the Gospel to bash that.

The teacher should probably go over the gifts of the Spirit, in first Corinthians 12 , there is the gift of healing and prophesy, in response to his comment "what makes you so special" or "why do you hear from God" and another doesn't. The Bible demonstrates over and over God had different levels of relationship with certain individuals in all dispensations, same with Jesus when he walked the earth. The teaching on Ephesians was great, thank you.

A lot of what you say is the truth. I am guilty of over praying on food. Thank you for your teachings. I found the verses to confirm what you said. I also agree with you about healing. God healed me by guiding me to change my eating habits and to stay away from harmful things. He healed me from MS which doctors said there is no cure. That's a lie. The healing is in the creation of God but the best healing is his word because it heals the mind and heart. For example: if someone is constantly angry, their blood pressures go up. Our emotions affect our health. Thank you so much for this video. I still have much to learn.

I think of this passage, as regarding a great deal of typical prayer in institutional religious Christianity: "Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, *he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,* " John 11:32-33 KJV

So all the times I've prayed in the past for health or whatever have been wrong. Great. So basically we are on our own. Now, right division is the Right way to study the Word. Everybody else is wrong. Where have I seen this before? Another five years someone will have another way which is right. This is getting old.

Praying is certainly not pointless, I'm at a loss for what I heard at the end of this sermon. Don't stop your prayers because of this pastor. When you pray know that God knows your heart and the real reason you wish to draw closer to him. Yes walk in a constant state of thankfulness but please don't ever believe that speaking to God during times of desperation is pointless. Comparing a grief filled prayer with the whimsical cries of a child wanting a bike is just not right, there's almost a spiteful anger in how he says it, even in how he replied to you. Imagine standing at the pulpit and telling people not to pray and drawer closer to God during times of grief and turmoil. Words are easy to mix up, we often speak without fully understanding what we want to say or how to say it, but God knows our hearts and the true reason we desire to draw closer because we are his children. He knows ultimately what's best for us and he wants us to draw closer to him rather than seek out the distractions of the world for relief from the pain (which most people do; alcohol, sex, drugs etc.) I agree with much of what the pastor says, however the slap-dash nature of how he talks about these things, as if he knows 100% the workings of God, is really unhelpful and dangerous. So many pastors are like this and each of them are absolutely right in their own minds and don't realise the hurt and damage they can do to people because of their often blind zeal. A walk with God is first and foremost a one-on-one relationship, the Bible is there as his word but it is also our living and growing relationship which changes and develops as we grow in our walk. Don't stop speaking to God and in time you'll learn to know how God works in your life and it certainly won't include cessation of speaking to him.

Gods grace is sufficient as he told Paul....we mold God into what we wish he would be. But under his grace salvation, he has given us all we need! His mercy, his love. His eternal protection of sin and death....we need nothing more! In our hearts, we are thankful, for our blessings, such as jobs, health, food, provision!s It's the peace and blessing we have from him everyday! So that is enough. We are blessed! We are forgiven! We are thankful without ceasing, in our spirit, praying alone....and God knows our hearts, always! Great message, and we all learned from this awesome sermon! We dont have to advertise our message to God for others to see.....we pray in our spirit, and God already knows our needs, before we even ask. Grace! Mercy! FORGIVENESS, and his Love! Eternally blessed!

I think my awakening occurred while the preacher was preaching before we went to knock on doors on a Tuesday and the preacher asked God to lead us to at least two tithing families I instantly realized that's not why I'm here. Ever since I've been a sceptic of those type prayers , I still had not heard grace preached boy when I did it was a revelation to me I so wanted to hear I knew it instantly. But I can see where maybe JP took some things out of context not on purpose but lack of understanding. Thanks again

I'm not sure of what you are saying, I've always feared praying for my food I developed a way to leave my hat on while in a restaurant claiming that I didn't want to drop no saw dust on the table but yet I prayed not for men but being humbled and thankful and acknowledge I that I trust in Jesus and of course the blessing was not so much to clean the food but that no matter I would not suffer ill effects. I don't eat out alot and don't really eat regular I eat when I'm hungry. I study not out of fear but I just find the word so interesting. I chose to be a Christian as a youngster but I didn't have much understanding untill my 40s when age started catching up and at 50 I had two heart attacks my second one was when TJ Yelding fumbled the ball on the 6 yard line I was embarrassed so I didn't tell my wife so I got on my knees and prayed and I basically surrendered to God in that I would live the rest of my life without worrying or arguing. So far so good I seam to be happy carefree and lacking in nothing. I based all that on the message of Grace that a man named Joseph Prince from Singapore preached. It was a message very much like what you are preaching only you seam to have more of what I want. I understand what your saying and I'm glad for that point of view. It definitely helps to not feel like it's a ordinance that I must observe. So would you say a silent prayer would be the way to go when eating ,optional. I still have figured out your name so I'll just say thanks.

When the church started Peter said - I don't have gold or silver but what I have I give it to you - Walk in Jesus name. The church today has no power so pastors come with lots of sermons to try to distract the fact that the church has no power. Just a bunch of useless sermons, books, church service and other waste of time. Jesus did lots of miracles and told us we would do the same. Paul said - My preaching is not of persuasive words but demonstration of power.
