I will never forget this day!!! I had thankfully given my shift away at work, because the time everyone got to trying to leave all at the same time, it was a mess... and I would have had to come all the way from one end to the other to make it out. I know many people that had to do that, and barely escaped with their lives that day!!!

Tennessee/North Carolina has a very special place in my heart! My mother was born & raised in North Carolina/Smoky Mountains. They were Appalachian people!! There is a special bond there for me!! Love the south!! Maybe one day I can move there!! Just so sad about the fires & how they got started by the teenagers. They have ruined the rest of there lives!! So many innocent people, wildlife/ forest, structures have been lost!

2 boys playing with matches caused this fire and the deaths that followed. They have been allowed to escape due to parental influence. Sad.

The fire was caused by teenagers. The massive drought and an wind storm with hurricane-force winds that sent the fire out of control burning over 17,000 acres was not caused by teenagers.

Actually the forest management service ignoring the small fire relying on forecasted rain is what led to this out of control fire i believ teenagers was their scapegoat not saying that they wasn't dropping matches but these mountains had went almost 90 years without a controlled burn thats alot of built up fuel.. fire prevents fire.. poor forest management and high winds makes any situation dangerous especially grades this steep.. the forest management acted as they didn't know the winds was gonna get that bad when the original 3 acre fire started I call BS we have advanced weather technology this was strung on poor leadership.. even if there was a rain a week prior these conditions still would of led to this fire.. climate change has nothing to do with fires. Nature has her own way of dealing with things and fire is one of them

It doesnt make sense. To cost the lives of 14 people, strikes me less than a planned unconstitutional controlled burn. I personally think 2 youths started a fire. Emergency management services left the fire burn. And took nil action.
