11 days in Sri Lanka vlog | Visiting Sri Lanka during the economic crisis

I took a last minute trip to Sri Lanka and it turned out to be one of the best trips of my life.
The country is currently undergoing the worst economic crisis in history. But this doesn't mean that we shouln't visit - it means the opposite. The economy needs tourists now more than ever.

I'm a little confused. All I'm seeing from SL are chaotic scenes, stories of people not getting enough food, petrol and other essentials but tourists are still visiting having plenty to eat etc. You would think everything is more or less normal there...?

You know media sometimes exaggerate things . But there is a great shortage of fuel tbh. Regarding food, it is still bearable for the upper middle class and the rural families. Yet the lower middle class living in urban areas are mostly affected by food inflation.Most people still have enough money to spend for their basics but it has suppressed their ability to go for a better car, better house etc. Talking about me, my only concern rn is about getting petrol and ousting these stupid politicians.

I felt totally and completely safe the whole time. We did a group tour so our guides made sure to give us the most comfortable and fun tour possible despite the economic situation. And regarding prices, it was actually not expensive at all but the opposite!
