I don't understand why people look at dimensions and time the way that they do... Time has multiple dimensions like space - we live in the 1st temporal dimension (t^1) and like the people living in the first spatial dimensions, we can only move forward through time. In order to move through time freely, you must add the second dimensions, although this doesn't allow for actual time travel as Quantum Thermodynamics tells us. You would be moving to parallel timestreams and depending on the angle, would determine past/future travel. This maintains conservation of energy at the quantum level by not allowing the universe to split into parallel realities, and also avoids paradoxes (All of which require a lot of energy which we know is finite as Macro Thermodynamics tells us). Duplicating an entire universe based on changes we make would require the universe to either split while containing the same amount of energy, or sacrificing a percentage in each new universe so that it still balances the original 100% (Energy cannot be created nor destroyed - so split realities have to share the amount of energy of the original universe because there's nowhere to get new energy to replace it. Besides, anyone moving through time can't actually change time - anything you do would just maintain the timeline (Think about the Harry Potter movie when he goes back in time). So in order to avoid paradoxes, but the ability to freely travel through time = you would be slipping into different timestreams/parallel universes that would allow you to make changes without hurting your own universe - for example, if you are in universe A-1 and you travel back in time to steal the statue of liberty, come home - chances are good you would still see the statue of liberty (Unless it was already stolen before you left). The reason would be that you travelled back in time but it was universe A-2, and came back home to A-1 in your present. A-2 however would have a present where some stranger stole the statue of liberty. By moving timestreams instead of through your own time, it eliminates the loss of energy - which agrees with thermodynamics. Now the question would be, will a separate reality accept the energy contained in the time traveller as its own? Or will it be ignored because it doesn't match the temporal or spatial reality? Or would the time traveller need to exchange the same amount of energy with whatever timestream he went to in order to maintain homeostasis in his new and old timestreams... Later thoughts I suppose... In order to know what timestream you enter, you would require access to the 3rd temporal dimensions, much like ours. Flatworld people can't see what's beyond the walls because they can never change their vantage points. Same thing with time, in order to prevent yourself from entering a parallel timeline where gravity was less, you would be entering a universe that would literally destroy you (Because there's no matter in that universe). If you think of t^1 like d^1 - we can picture a worm or line that represents our universe and time. The length would be time from start to finish, but the insides would be like frames of an animation (Best explanation I can think of). But the only way to see the timeworms would be to rise up in t^3 where you can look down and see in t^2 all the little t^1 timeworms... We know that space and time exist together and even interact with each other (Like how gravity can't exist without time), so why people don't understand that time and space do the exact same thing in higher dimensions as well. Why do you think that time travellers get "some" of the predictions right but not all - depending on their universe, they're all probably 100% - but much like a mandela effect (Which I don't buy into BTW) some of those things may not have happened here in Universe A-1 (Or at least YET!) Quantum Thermodynamics bridges these gaps, as well as unifies relativity, macro vs micro, dark matter/energy, and temporal vs spatial dimensions. It explains the role of the observer as a direct necessity for conservation of energy.

I suggest the following description of extra dimensions. We explain the basic dimensions as they relate to gravity. Gravity requires a substrate to carry its influence across time and space. This substrate we call space time continuum. I suggest that magnetism has it's own substrate that acts as a carrier of magnetic lines of force. The electrostatic and electromagnetic forces operate through their own carrier mediums each giving another 3 dimensions. We define electromagnetic force as a single force. However, this is really a composite force that these is 2 separate forces, magnetism and electrostatic force that act in concert. Also there is the weak and strong forces that each require their own substrate mediums and have their own associated dimensions. Whether the time dimension is shared across all of the sets of dimensions or there is an independent dimension of time for each force remains to be discovered All of these sets of dimensions when taken together offer a basis for the necessary extra dimensions required for string theory. I am not able to do the math or pursue this beyond conjecture. However, it seems like the invisible forces each need their own medium to connect to objects. There must also be a primary layer that binds all of these forces together and allows them to operate cohesively. This may be the string layer. The current explanation of extra dimensions of space time seems a bit of a stretch to me.

As a musician, i do understand his frustration of explaining things that he can't but tries to comprehand. It's always the breaking down of what we know until it doesn't makes sense that frustrates. In music, a semitone is kind of the smallest digit of measurement, but we do know there are way more tones within a semitone, we know it by ear the slighest out of tune, increments way smaller than a semitone. But when we talk about semitones within semitones within semitones x infinete, we get the concept, but there is no way that we can actually feel it like it matters as mortals. But you can imagine if 12 notes is all there is to every single piece of music you've ever heard as a mortal. As a math & physics guy, roughly speaking , dimenision is the number that tell you how many sets of things something can be separated into for example, (0, 1) is of 2 dimension since it can be separated into 0 and 1 respectively. in physics, dimension always means spacial dimension until relativity exist. Special Relativity purpose that there is some relationship between space and time (not the same, just related) so physicist tends to combine 3d space and 1d time as (3,1) d space-time to simplify stuffs in physics. That's the idea of why people say time is the 4-th dimension of space, it is wrong though. As the other dimension that basically all come from string theory. string originally require 32-dimension as the matrix is 32 by 32 dimension then people discover that they can somehow reduce it to 11x11 dimension and the matrix still work the same. so there you go, that's the 11-dimension that you are looking for. Also, the extra dimensions are spacial not timal, so having extra dimension doesn't give you wings or other supernatural power that you are probably willing to have. You can think them as adding extra dimension to your array when you are programming something. That's just one key about the extra dimension is that the shape of the extra dimension is flat and periodic.

According to Edgar Cayce who is the most accurate psychic of all time .. the fourth dimension is not another layer of time but rather... This would also make sense for spirit to contain more dimensions than the mental realms or physical realms.

Although I have no clue as to accuracy, this is a comprehensible description of the dimensions described by string theory for a non-physicist. I still have a few logical gaps of conceptual understanding (e.g. if, in the 8th dimension, a thing has no form (including vibration or light, which is form) how can there be multiples of it for the 9th dimension? and also, 10th - anything imaginable, 11th, anything imaginable or unimaginable, seem too vague to be helpful, and if there is 'instability' after the 11th dimension, where does it come from, since we've already included everything imaginable and unimaginable?) but I now understand far more than before. More questions: I was listening to a talk by another physicist, Sean Carroll, and he said something about there being 'nothing before the Big Bang.' Yet, you say that at 7d, many origins become possible for the multiverses, not just the Big Bang. Does that include the possibility of universes where the arrow of time reverses? If not, in which dimension would this feature appear, if it does, in string theory? Is that what they say may be the 12th dimension? You exsist eveywhere with eveything all the way to infinity. So the actual topic, which is relevant to string theory, I believe just states that the math becomes much cleaner if you allow for one dimensional strings to be embedded in some 11 dimensional manifold. You’ve missed out a fundamental aspect of dimensionality. A 2D-planar world must of necessity be 3D if you consider that objects can move L/R, forwards/back. Same with a line, when you add time, it becomes a 2D world. So time is quite independent of space at least for the first 4 dimensions. After that, if the additional dimensions are compacted then it means the lower dimensions are either constrained (like a circle, which is infinite but bounded) or are “chaotic`’ (i.e. infinite iterations that are bounded in another dimension). In the latter case, the coastline of a continent or island is basically 4D (at a particular point in time, but exists in the 5th dimension). The explanations of the other dimensions are purely arbitrary and fantastical, the mathematical properties of the 7 additional dimensions are nothing like as described in this video. You’re just making it up as you go along! :o

Nice try, but there are apparent holes in "M-theory." First and most important, the dimensions are out of order. Second, mathematically according to Matrix Algebra, there are infinite dimensions - not 11 or 26. Third, size does not affect dimension. A one dimensional line does not become three dimensional because a bug crawling on it is smaller than one dimension. The very concept is silly. A defined line of one dimension has no height and no width. There is no smaller than no height and no width. The concept is absolute. After the 4th dimension, the dimensions did not have names and were not explained to have any meaningful value. Therefore, I can only assume it is science fiction. There is also a relationship between dimensions that is never mentioned. I can only conclude that the theorist has not realized the information.

I know this is older, but for people reading this later. To move through time like a 4th dimensional creature basically adds another direction to move in. We can move back, forward, side to side, and up and down. A 4the dimensional creature could do all of that while also bring able to walk backwards and forwards in time with the same ease as us lowly 3 dimensional creatures walking backwards and forward normally, or in "space." The first 3 dimensions are spacial dimensions, which is why we can only easy move backwards and forward across the plane that we occupy as 3rd dimensional creatures. Ps this is just how I understand it I could be wildly wrong

@@ethanhunt3824 Ha ha. Ether is a mild one. Butane is mid-range. ...But duster is da bomb. I'm not sure exactly which chemical. Some kind of long-ass flourocarbon name, with a -3 and a -4 in it. It doesn't work so well when drunk. Go easy with it! It's a rare treat, not an everyday thing. And... always bring a towel ;-)
