I'm one of the few people who enjoys wrapping gifts. I'm eager to try doing the pockets and pleats. One way I like to wrap is similar to the pillar candle, but with shorter ends, to make it look like old fashioned wrapped candy. I just tie each side with curling ribbon then curl it. 😊

One of my favorite memories is volunteering at a wrapping station outside an REI every Christmas in high school! I loved wrapping people's gifts; I could get the benefit of wrapping a variety of fun gifts without having to pay for either the gift or paper LOL And it was always fun hearing people's reasoning behind their gifts :)

You missed my level 1: sticking everything in a pre-made bag with some wadded up tissue paper
@checksanity11 ай бұрын
Haha! I do this too because it allows the bag and tissue to be reused. However, I don’t “wad up” the tissue in a scrunching way. My mom taught me to open the tissue, pinch the centre of the sheet, pick it up, then flick your wrist/arm-that creates a tulip-ish shape. The gift doesn’t need to be wrapped before putting it in the bag, just follow it with putting the pinched ends of the tulip tissues into the bag. Depends on the size of the bag, but it requires maybe 2-5 sheets to look full and pretty.

Loved this! I especially appreciate the examples that required no tape. It allows for potential reuse of the wrapping and/or makes it easier to recycle (no removal of tape). I’d never seen the bag style ones before. It would be cool to see another video, maybe with a focus on how to do different types of bow styling.

I love wrapping gifts. When I was a kid, my mom would have me wrap all the presents for Xmas (except my own) 😅 I've actually used a few of these methods! I hate just throwing things in bags. I think people like unwrapping things (even if they don't like to wrap gifts themselves) so I try to wrap everything even if it's a weird shape.
@laurao327411 ай бұрын
It depends on the person. I hate when people wrap my gifts, because I can't not think about the waste of single-use wrapping paper. I prefer when they use gift bags or even shopping bags.
@NadiaSeesIt11 ай бұрын
I get that, but bags are reusable! I just buy high quality bags and grab them after to reuse. Myself and a few family members keep exchanging the same bags!
@rhoward295Ай бұрын
I have been known to reuse gift wrapping. After Christmas and birthdays, I grab giant non-wrinkled pieces and gently fold them. I put it away with my Christmas or gift wrap bin. This works nicely for the heavy duty gift wrap. not with the flimsy Dollar-store-type of gift wrap.

She missed levels: -3: hide behind your back unwrapped and hand it to the recipient and say "surprise" or something more clever. -2: throw into some kind of bag that's bigger than the item, preferably paper grocery store bag. -1: put item in center of a newspaper, pull all ends to close it into a ball, tie with string or a ton of tape. Three more tacky levels... covered.

The most replayed portion of this video is for those awkward shaped items (like a toy car, or basically anything in a blisterpack that's not a nice box shape), and the professional's solution is.. fold the wrapping paper into a gift bag and put it in there. It's still a nice personal touch to fold your own bag, but seems like the pro wrapper agrees that there's no point in trying to wrap those neatly. Maybe an origami master would have to step in.
