The Devil Wears Prada stand among modern metalcore's true trailblazers, pushing the genre's limits from 2005’s ‘Dear Love’ to 2022's 'Color Decay.' With that in mind, we asked vocalist Mike Hranica and guitarist Jeremy DePoyster to pick 11 albums that not only defined the metalcore genre, but completely changed the game. Watch above as they hail both early classics like If Hope Dies’ 'Life in Ruin' and more recent groundbreaking entries such as Bring Me the Horizon’s 'Sempiternal.'
Let us know some of your favorite innovative metalcore albums in the comments below!

I saw bmth and architects about 7 times from 2008-2013 in Canada. Back when it was like $18 no cover to see a show lol. Did a meet and greet with bmth once as well, they were super chill back in 2011. Crazy they're still around and doing so well.

Underoath had a MUCH better singer on The Changing of Times than They're Only Chasing Safety and then they got what's his name haha I can't remember either of their singers names now. The guy they have now I could never take him seriously I loved Underoath til they released TOCS then I was like nahhhhh they got to safe for me...I was always into heavier stuff though. And props to TDWP for never recanting on their Christian Beliefs even after the beef with Behemoth's Nergal...Nergal is just a man...everyone seems so afraid of him and a skinny little man at that who does Yoga and worships Satan hahaha now that's just funny in some way!

@@allencarey7336 soooo much wrong with this comment lmao 1. The only lineup change since Changing of Times (other than the one album that didn't have Aaron) is swapping Spencer for Dallas, who is a much better vocalist for them and the heavier direction they went afterwards. I do really like Dallas in Maylene and old UØ, but he couldn't do what Spencer does, and his screaming clearly took a toll on his voice, because it's far from what it used to be 2. Clearly you haven't kept up with UØ if you think that anything past TOCS is "safe" lmao. Define the Great Line up to current day Voyeurist (even on Erase Me, although that was more "safe" in some ways) is some of the weirdest, most experimental music we have in the scene, ESPECIALLY for a band as big as Underoath 3. TDWP stopped claiming Christianity a decade ago, they just never made any public statements about it. Most of the members aren't Christians

@@allencarey7336 dang, I didn't realize that 2007 was only 5 years ago 😂 Being "more metal" doesn't make it better. TCOT wasn't as metal as everything after TOCS, so by your standards, they should be better 🤷‍♂️ And yeah, Acts of Depression and Cries of the Past are awesome, but they couldn't have done songs like that forever or he would have blown his voice from bad technique. You can say Spencer is a "poser" all you want, but that's not gonna change the fact that Dallas couldn't have kept up with the rest of the band

BMTHs “Count Your Blessings” will probably be my all time favorite Metalcore record. To each their own, everyone is gonna have theirs, and I personally think it comes down to the whole time and place thing. For my life, it was the perfect album for that era. Same with the rest up to TTS, though I wouldn’t consider anything after Suicide Season metalcore. It’s really disappointing to see the music they’re making now, I feel like they’re currently in their “St Anger, Load, Reload” phase.
