#11 My Shoegaze Collection (part one)

Did an interview with Brad Laner from Medecine on my channel earlier this year, for the vinyl release of Her Highness. You might find it interesting. Shoegaze was super formative for me, as I was a young teen when it happened. Seefeel and Th'e Faith Healers were my go to bands, though, but they were more than a few that mattered to me. Obviously My Bloody and Medecine, but also Pale Saints, Jean Paul Sartre Experience, early Ride, some Slowdive, Bowery Electric, early Verve, Flying Saucer attack, etc. There are thousands of new shoegaze bands these days, but it's not just about the sound, but also the energy of a time, which most often gets lost.

A shoegaze band I love and I think don’t get enough props is codeine who put stuff out on sub pop ! There album barely real is amazing!!!

I saw Medicine about year or so be they broke up around late 90s. They are one of my favorite bands I saw live and Her Highness is one of my favorite albums ever.

I sympathise about the My Bloody Valentine scarcity...I bought those first two Creation' EPs when they first were released - but in the interim they fell by the wayside - maybe I sold them in lean times - I can't even recall...and now, as I also revisit vinyl, when I looked to repurchase them they've prohibitively expensive...

Yeah Great stuff, I was lucky enough to buy pretty much all the MBV stuff on release on vinyl as The Melody Maker & NME were going nuts for them. still got ‘Isn’t Anything & You Made Me’. I sold ‘Feed Me’ & gave away ‘Glider & ‘Loveless’ (vinyl had pretty much no value in the early nineties!! Do you know the 90’s American Band ‘Drop Nineteens?’ They we’re ok, very pop shoegaze. recently sold my copy of their album. The second wave of Shoegaze was quite interesting like Disco Inferno & Bark Psychosis, maybye not as melodic though,

MBV show July 2018 --- Shrine Expo Hall next to USC. He didn't mention that it was part of his 50th birthday celebration - Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies/Weezer, MBV, then Garbage! MBV show was so loud that my earplugs were vibrating out of my ears.

great collection. do you think the mbv reissues like loveless went through an analog and digital remastering? did you get to compare the sound on the two copies you have of loveless?

I don't think I have nice enough stereo equipment to tell much of a difference, to be honest. They both sound amazing, after listening to this album for 30 years from either the cd or digital download.
