I bought this press a couple weeks ago and LOVE it and have great success with designs that don't go all the way to the side edges. I' am however, having trouble with fading on the SIDE edges - not top or bottom. I feel like I"m following all the tips. I guess my next step is to call technical support for help.

I have this mug press but if I have any design lower to the edge it does not heat well. I also tried 385F for 190 and my mugs came out light..I had to go 400F for 205 to get results. I am going to keep trying to even out heat evenly

Have you made sure the pressure is tight on the lower side of your mug? All 11 oz mugs taper at the bottom so you really have to make sure that area is being pressed properly. Please use the dual pressure knobs in the front to your advantage. It will definitely help seal the bottom and make sure you are pressing the same way we are in the video. You can always reach out to us directly at 800-215-0894 or support@heatpressnation.com and we'll go ahead and troubleshoot any issues for you :).

Can I make multiple transfers on the same mug? For example, if I'm creating a pattern without background and I want to avoid a seam. Can I sublimate some images onto one side, then add more images to the other side and sublimate again? Will the heat cause any damage to the original transfer? (I'm sublimating a 20 oz tumbler so I don't have to worry about a handle.)

I noticed that you didn’t put any butcher paper down before you pressed I thought you were supposed to . do we not have to on this machine? Also how do you set only a bleed on the top and bottom when I set a bleed it does it all over
@HeatPressNation3 жыл бұрын
We've found that (for whatever reason) we don't get any blowout from the ink when heat pressing our sublimation mugs. So we don't use parchment paper when sublimating mugs. The bleed depends on your template. If you don't want bleed on the bottom, just shorten the bottom of your template in Photoshop, or whatever program you're using. You can also just position your transfer so the image stops at the bottom and doesn't bleed past the edge.

All of the equipment we used in this video is listed in the description. We have linked to everything you need to make mugs as shown in this video. The printer used in this video has been discontinued and upgraded to the new Sawgrass SG500. If you wanted to upgrade to a larger printer, you could go for the new SG1000.

Was that 15 oz full bleed mug porcelain or ceramic? How did you avoid ghosting with the black?
@HeatPressNation2 жыл бұрын
In this video we used an 11oz ceramic mug. We applied a full bleed graphic. To avoid ghosting, be sure to use heat tape to keep your transfer fixed in place through the pressing process. In this video we recommend waiting 30-60 seconds before peeling. You can wait longer - 5 minutes or until cool - if you notice ghosting or blurring on your mugs.
@PRINCESSKELEA7772 жыл бұрын
@@HeatPressNation @HeatPressNation I'm referring to the full color mug (I might have commented on the wrong video) see pix. He was demonstrating the heat press I want! The video came up when I was shopping for porcelain sub mugs. I was wondering if the porcelain was better than ceramic to prevent ghosting. I've never left my images in place once I removed the mug but maybe that's my issue? Oh guess I can't attach a pix. 😢

Do you have a Template for 11 ounce coffee mug? I can't find mine I just found
I was using orca mugs and had no problems, but I wanted to try the dolphin mugs so I purchased a case. I sublimated a few and they're all coming out with a yellow tint where the thermal tape is. Why is this happening? I didn't have that problem with the orca mugs and all the settings are the same.
@HeatPressNation6 жыл бұрын
That's interesting. We haven't had any issues with our heat tape leaving discoloration on the dolphin mugs. Can you email a photo to support@heatpressnation.com? Definitely want to take a look at that.
@Ssandyyy--6 жыл бұрын
@@HeatPressNation We noticed that if we don't remove the mug as soon as the timer goes off, like if we leave them a few seconds more, that's when the tint appears. But even if we remove them as soon as the timer goes off, it also gets the tint, a bit more subtle but it's there... We never had this issue with the orca mugs and it's a bit frustrating. I'll email some photos to the support team.

I bought ceramic mug from Micheal store. is that work?

No, mugs must be specially coated in order to be sublimated. Blank mugs from craft stores like Michaels are for ok painting, but not for sublimating.

I have the same heat press and I was wondering what to do about the press dropping temp for the first 100 secs? By then the time is almost gone and the temp is finally getting back to 385. Do I extend my time or keep it at 190 secs?
@HeatPressNation6 жыл бұрын
Temperature drop is normal. 385F for 190sec works for room temperature mugs. The colder the mug, the more it'll drop. So if you store your mugs in a cold garage/attic/basement, then you may need to compensate with a little extra time. It all depends on how your finished products look.
@asp99907 жыл бұрын
Hi, I find that when I press the mugs with a dark image there is a brown tinge to the print especially around faces. I have my press set at 190 degrees and the timer at 50 minutes Do you have any advice you can offer.
@HeatPressNation7 жыл бұрын
50 minutes seems quite long for a sublimation transfer and 190 degrees seems quite low. For mugs we typically recommend 385 degrees Fahrenheit pressed at medium-firm pressure for 190 seconds (3min 10sec). I would strongly recommend changing your settings and trying again. In general, if your transfers - especially black ink - start to turn brown, it's a sign of overcooking. That is likely what is happening with your transfers.
@asp99907 жыл бұрын
HeatPressNation i meant 50 seconds not 50 minutes... 😂😂😂. Do you think the time at 50seconds is not long enough even when the press is set at 190 degrees (374 F). Thanks Anjee
@HeatPressNation7 жыл бұрын
Well in that case, your mug probably would have been undercooked. I would try the settings we mentioned before (385F/190sec) to see if it makes a significant difference. Also, what kind of printer and sublimation mugs are you using? That may have an effect on it as well.

i thought you had to wrap your mug with paper to avoid ink bleed to the machine?
@bryantahnwork30687 жыл бұрын
Hey there Leslie! You definitely could wrap your transfers with parchment paper or non-stick sheet but it is not completely necessary if you trimming a few good spaces beyond the ink bleed. We have sublimated thousands of mugs without covering it and haven't noticed any issues of bleeding to the machine or ghosting. Now you can definitely be extra careful and use a product that would cover it and that will just help guarantee that you will not have an issue.
@HeatPressNation7 жыл бұрын
Bryant is one of our experienced technical support representatives and he is absolutely correct. Leaving space beyond the ink bleed will prevent the sublimation ink from seeping onto the heating element.
