Hey Rev I have been enjoying your Pinhoti Trail updates so while waiting for the next installment I have begun this magnificent playlist of the PCT. I am inspired by your efforts. Thank you.

Hey Jeff. I’m glad you’re enjoying the Pinhoti videos. This has been a great trail. I hope you also enjoy my PCT journey. It’s still hard to believe that I accomplished something of that magnitude.😁👍❤️

Magnificent! I can't explain, but I had tears in my eyes looking at some of that scenery. All the ugly things people can do....it's just rendered meaningless when you see what life is really about. Something like that LOL. And your attitude and demeanor just adds to it all. Thank you for this, it is so much better than watching movies or TV. The scenery in this video is the best so far in the series in my opinion. Breathtaking.

Well thank you Mike. That’s why I like to get outside and unplug from all the mess that’s going on in the world today.

nice looking camp sight (Saw Mill Camp Trail) . the way you carry you Ice Ax is not safe, but you made it. Point Down, not up. strange it has no tip. Your delay heading into Sierras had made for lovely views, and safer travel and warmer weather.

Good that you record at 60FPS. It makes panning of the camera look so much smoother compared to 30FPS. I use a light microphone made by Rode (Australian) which is attached to the USB-C or lightning port on the phone. It has a wind muffler ("dead cat") which is highly effective. It costed me about 60 Swiss francs, about the same in USD.
@TheHikingRev2 жыл бұрын
I now use Slo-Mo 120 fps for my landscape/pans. I can do so much more with that speed.
@danielduesentriebjunior2 жыл бұрын
@@TheHikingRev Ok, extra smooth and you may even slow down pans afterwards if you like. I am happy with 60, but not with 30 where I clearly recognize ugly jittering.

Hi Rev, I watched the last parts of your journey now going back and watching from the beginning. I'm planning on doing the trail in 2024 when I'll be 77 years old. I do a lot of hiking in the Arkansas area and have done parts of the AT. I was wondering about the date identifier in KZbin. Did you do the trail over two years or did you do the whole trail in one year. Some of the videos show 3 years ago and some show 2 years ago. What year did you actually do the trail? I also enjoy your other videos on backpacking. As an older hiker, I have gained some insights from you that I use. Blessings, Wayne Clary.

Thanks Wayne. Good luck on your PCT journey. I’d like to do some hikes in Arkansas.

Wow! You seem to have averaged 20-30 miles per day?! I’ve done the onion valley kearsarge pass & it is a “killer” so I’m impressed that you did it as a “side” journey to restock. I did see mules carrying restock , from onion valley, for backpackers but I’m sure there’s a fee for that (I’m assuming so the backpacker doesn’t have to go off-trail).
@TheHikingRev2 жыл бұрын
Most people went into Independence to resupply via Kearsarge pass.
@Henning_Rech Жыл бұрын
The fee is quite steep. Something like 500 bucks.

Great Videos! Thanks for sharing. Trip down memory lane as I was hiking the whole PCT in 2018. What it the reason there is no content between sawmill pass and echo lake? Did you skip this section? Best regards Michael
@TheHikingRev2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael. My phone/camera broke and did not get a replacement until S. Lake Tahoe thus the gap in my KZbin videos. I’m going to do that section again this year, record and publish the video in my KZbin playlist. Sorry for the confusion.

June 2. Not much snow on the Southface but a whole lot on the Northface. Descending, you go across a very high and sketchy snow field down a bloulder field (no visible trail). At the bottom, going toward Rea Lakes (still no visible trail) several times I potholed up to my waist. Not fun!

Bit confused, did I miss some videos from Sawmill to Echo Lake? Seems on your vid's you jumped from 800 - 1,000 mile marker.
@TheHikingRev2 жыл бұрын
You’re very observant Peter. And don’t be confused. My phone/camera broke so I could not get any video footage from mile marker 803.4 to Echo Lake. I had to go into South Lake Tahoe to get a new phone/camera. I hope to do that section this year and insert it in my KZbin video playlist.
