$120,000 tax exmption on your home.. Daily fresh catch red snapper ( gutted )- $2.50 a pound . Fresh tuna and makerel - $1.50 a pound. Fresh chicken breast-$1.25 a pound. My power bill with a pool pump and a/c at night is under $15 a month. I hsd an EKG, and a bag of saline put into my vein lsst week. ( I had too much salt in my diet). Total cost (including the ER Doctor) ? Fifty cents. I've been here for 12 years with my 2 dogs. They eat fish in the morning and chicken breast in the afternoon. I own my ocean front place and vehicle, dont go out to eat very often, and I spend less than $1000 a month to live comfortably. Stay out of the city and the casinos and living is dirt cheap. I love it... I have an additional large ocean front lot for sale as well.

Boquete just added a public park along the River! It’s just amazing. In addition, they opened a Public library as well. I am bold to say, Boquete can compete with any small European town now. It’s a must visit town. Want a lower area similar to Boquete? Contact me. Jesse

I lived in Panama for 10 years. It has changed a lot in 10 years, not necessarily for the best. I elected to relocate to Costa Rica, for a different lifestyle.
@charlesjames49568 сағат бұрын
I agree with you totally. I have never lived there, but I visited twice, exactly 10 years apart, in 2013 and again in 2023. Panama City in that time, it got a lot cleaner and a lot more sidewalks, and quite a few more high-rise buildings, but the cost of living went up 5X! No thank you I say!
@jesusortega7294 күн бұрын
In the capital and certain “expat” hot spots expect to pay higher prices vs the rest of the country. There are several small towns in every province that can be super affordable. As in any Latin American country if you go to the local market you will save ton!

we have been to panama 3 times. Last year we took an overpriced “relocation” tour. It was interesting to see so many different climates. We hate hot weather so we decided to live in volcan. We went to boquete last year and decided its way overrun with expats and the prices to eat out are astounding due to the more affluent expat population. we are headed back to volcan in a week to spend a month to cement our decision. Curious as to your $2900 a month budget. If you spend $1000 a month on lodging what in the world do you spend the other $1900 on?

She was talking about what sounded like a fairly indulgent lifestyle in Panama City. I assume Volcan is less expensive.

This video has me really curious about retiring in Panama! I’d love to know more about the cost of living compared to the U.S., especially in terms of healthcare, housing, and everyday expenses. Are there any particular areas in Panama that are more affordable or better suited for retirees? Would love to hear your thoughts!

I’m so glad to hear the video piqued your curiosity about retiring in Panama! We actually have videos coming up soon on the channel that specifically cover the best places to live in Panama and the cost of living in Panama, so stay tuned for those. Some flooding, but most of it is cleaned up. This usually happens every 7 years. The drought ended 3 months ago. Now, the rain season is over. Back to sun and dandy, sandy beaches.

Not for older US citizens who don't speak Spanish - it isn't ! --- The language barrier is a real deal breaker for many. A comfortable daily life is desirable and essentials for daily living can be difficult when you can't read the signs streets roads menus or talk on the phone placing orders for essentials. If you are fluent in Spanish you have it made.

If you must live among bigger city gringo's , then you will pay a gringo price. Pizza is probably the most expensive food in panama. Large pizza where I am is $12-$16. Most local meals are under $10., but some (chicken, rice, beans ) average $3.50 for a nice portion.

@Joe-qv6jh5 күн бұрын
There are lots of light tremors , which keeps plates from binding, so the risk of a big quake is very low. An occasional 6 but it's not bad. Most buildings are built to handle it.

Is it true that there's a problem with trash in the streets, everywhere?
@internationalliving7 күн бұрын
Panama, like many countries, has areas where waste management can be improved, particularly in busier urban centers like Panama City. That said, it’s not something you’ll encounter everywhere, and most neighborhoods and towns take pride in maintaining clean and beautiful environments.

The new president is conducting a new tourism incentive to get rubbish under control. Of course, this will bring fines, but it needs the attention. Panama is moving from (developing) nation to (developed) nation. Invest in your property soon before prices hit ( developed) nation values. It's coming....
@charlesjames49568 сағат бұрын
I don't see how Panama, whether it be Panama City or rural Panama, can be considered 'the best place.....'. Other than the 4-5 most expensive cities of north america, Panama City is just as expensive and in many cases more expensive than living in the USA. Panama City has 3 big positives, it is very walkable, it has a very nice city park Parque Omar, and public transportation is good. But most people look to expat to find significantly lower cost of living, and that is just not the case for PTY. As for rural and small city Panama, there the COL is much lower than PTY, but it is still pretty 3rd world. Mexico or Guatamala or Colombia offer much better possibilities for retirement places.
