ToxicTommy only the opti. They came with 10:4:1 compression stock and went up every year . The weak point was the heads 215 58cc. they need atleast 600lift cam, Easy to make power out of a lt1 . Ls is better because stock with cam only , because they have way better heads and way better flowing intake.c just simple upgrades .i love both lt and ls. But its hard to beat cheap ass ls power for the street. But if im truelly racing im staying gen 1 sbc or bbc

Great video, thank you. Your car looks and sounds just great. I have 2 of the Caprice B4U models. One of them has a Scat forged rotator, rods & pistons, Trick flow heads and a Pro Flow intake. Oh a really nice beefy cam. The engine and suspension rebuild has taken quite some time but was really worth it. The engine dyno'd at 472 hp and the crank and 410 rw hp with a 373 posi. The car is in dire need of a re-paint and minor interior. Oh, I put in an 85 Z28 dash board too. The SS's and the B4U's are just awesome cars I plan to keep mine for a long time. BTW, I too have been through a few opti's but ended that problem with the Torqhead 24x conversion hit and the Holley HP ECU. it has made a tremendous change in the way the car runs and it tunes itself once it has been set up on the dyno. Best money I have spent on the car. Good luck with yours, I really like it. Mine will remain a faded black sleeper.

+Retired at 49 I remember a little after when they first came out. Around 1998. I saw a guy stomp the hell outta one. Meaning the gas pedal. The car peeled out somethin wicked. I couldn't believe how quick it raised up off a dime. I was a fan after I saw that. Back then I was about 18 so I didn't know what that car was I knew it resembled the Caprice. My guy told me It was an SS. Alot of hype around that car when it came out & it lived up to it.

I can remember going to a car show and sitting in a 96 I believe Buick Road master when it first came out and thinking it was bad ass cause it was similar to the Caprice and had the almost Corvette LT1 in it LOL....sad times....my generation grew up with the worst cars ever.

@CalletaMoth6 жыл бұрын
@@Texas_Cruiser I have yet to run into any issues with my opti. Still the same one she came with when bought in 2004. They have a tendency to get moisture in them, same as the AIR pump I believe. And like they said in the video, being behind the water pump is kinda shoddy placement. I've heard my fair share of horror stories on these as well. I count my blessings mine hasn't needed replacement yet.
@Texas_Cruiser6 жыл бұрын
Jennifer May I'm reading that getting a new water pump and having it installed properly will help prevent leaks which in turn will keep the optispark in running order. But then again Eric here is on his 4th or 5th which makes it seem that it's not just a one and done.
